There were others who did the spreadsheet thing, so why not?

Breakdown by system is a little sketch, I counted Ninja Gaiden III from the SNES game as SNES because of the differences between versions, but I counted the first game from Trilogy as NES because it's effectively unchanged. Majora's Mask was the remake, so it goes under 3DS.

NES: 36
PC: 20
SNES: 13
Arcade: 7
Wii U: 4
3DS: 4
X360: 3
Game Boy: 3
Android: 2
DS: 2
PS3: 2
Vita: 1
Virtual Boy: 1
N64: 1
GBC: 1
Dreamcast: 1

Genres are very, very broad. Probably too much so. Whatevs! I went with the dominant trait, for the most part.

Platformer: 43
Action: 22
Fighting: 9
Action Adventure: 9
RPG: 7
Puzzle: 6
Shooter: 2
Adventure: 2
Sports: 1

Total unique titles: 101

Whee! I broke 100! :) (A whole lot of NES, though.)

Well I didn't get to beat any more games like I thought I would, but oh well. I still beat 41 games which is fewer than 2014 (only by 2 games), but WAY more than all the other years I've played games combined, so that's good enough for me.

The full list: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1015165#p1015165

The breakdown:

I snuck one in at the last minute. I got this one for Christmas and I'm been playing a little bit every night after the kids are in bed. Oh boy was that a good call. This game is very mature indeed. It is my first Telltale game and I was pretty impressed. This may warrant another playthrough later with different choices. I will have to check out some of their other stuff. There is some stuttering of the graphics from time to time and I have read that is pretty common in their games. I think I can overlook it in most cases if the price is right.

I don't want to give away any story details because that is pretty much the entire point of the game - the story. But I will say this:
The fight at the end with Bloody Mary was epic.

Anyway, highly recommended if you like the choose your own adventure interactive movie type games.

I pressed the power button to bring the screen back on, and when I did, the post was gone. I had copied the post to my clipboard several times during writing, but I'm unable to paste. I'm fucking pissed, so I'm not going to bother re-writing the post. I liked both games, there ya go. Happy 2016 and shit.

----------

Some stats
Total Games: 80

I am quite happy with the statistical breakdown below, as I managed to get 20+ platforms in and got closer to 50% retro games than I ever have before. I also think that I managed to find a healthy cross-genre balance, though FPS was once again the dominant genre for the third year running. I continue to be happy with the amount of RPGs I get in during the year, as those are the biggest time sucks in most instances and it can be hard to keep the overall numbers up for the year if too many of those are played, but it looks "cheaper" if very few are played, somehow  . In any case, I think next year I want to give some different systems more love (I am shocked to see only one X1 game, no SAT, DC, or SNES games, etc.) and finish up the alpha-by-year challenge that I started this year but abandoned during the month and a half or two I got wrapped up playing Destiny: The Taken King (the game with the most hours for the year, undoubtedly).

Modern: 46 (PS4: 21, PC: 10, Vita: 5, PS3: 3, 3DS: 3, Wii U: 1, X1: 1, 360: 1, IOS: 1)

Great job for those that participated in this thread. I got a lot of ideas for games to check as I followed along all year.
