I took alienjesus’ advice and played through another Wonder Boy game, the absolutely glorious Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap. I know a lot of you have beaten this; so, I won’t write too much. I will say, however, that the game is a splendid open-world platformer that looks and sounds great, plays better, is exceptionally well-designed, and is tremendous fun. I loved it, and it is now my favorite SMS game. (Sorry, Phantasy Star!) Highly recommended.

Hooray! The 2 you still have remaining are also great, so I look forward to when you get to those as well

Nice. I’m really looking forward to them...although, since I will also be playing The Dynastic Hero, I really have three games to go. (Even more good times!)

I forgot you were playing variants. The Dynastic Hero is very literally just a reskin of WB in Monster World, so maybe you might not want to jump in right after you beat the WB version.

If you are also playing ports, sample the TG-16 version of Dragon's Curse (Trap). It's rather nice.

Demon's Crystals is a fun twin-stick shooter that reminds me of some of my favorite Housemarque games but easier* and with a vampire-anime-girl vibe that I think noise would like.

*except for the fucking last boss, which took me as long to beat as the rest of the game combined.

Blek is a fun puzzler and offers a clever use of the touch screen, but I don't know that it is deserving of the hype I remember it having (at least not in retrospect).

Destiny 2: Forsaken is indeed to Destiny 2 what The Taken King was to Destiny 1, which means that it is all kinds of awesome and absolutely the kind of thing to suck me back into the game for way too many hours. I will share more about it once I feel I am far enough along with the power leveling (I finished the campaign and hit the soft level cap), but suffice to say it is an excellent return to form after a mostly disappointing series of smaller releases.

I completed Beyond Good & Evil on the Microsoft XBOX this evening!

Beyond Good and Evil is a solid and wonderfully executed game. It is hard to find absolutely any faults in the game, though it doesn't grab you like other fantastic games. However, what is here, is really well executed and incredibly fun to play. The story leaves enough to the imagination without spoon feeding you everything. The combat is engaging and each concept is introduced at a very brisk pace. A very likeable character and a unique setup round out an excellent game.

I lol'd at "vampire girl vibe," though I generally don't care for twin stick shooters.

269. Spider-man(ps1)

Although I have not bought spider-man for ps4 yet, all the hype inspired me to go back and play the original spider-man for ps1.

Spiderman, in my opinion, is the first true superhero game ever made. Prior to its release there were a ton of amazing 8 and 16 bit superhero games, but none of them captured the essence of being in a comic book the way spider-man did. Everything about this game showed a lot of love and dedication to the source material in a way that other games of its day did not. The voicework is amazing, stan lees narration is amazing, the plot could have easily been a series of episodes in a saturday morning cartoon series, and you get a huge wealth of cameos.

Not only did it look and sound the part but it felt great too, no other game made you feel like spidey the way this game did, web swinging was fun, as were all the cool things you could do with your web shooters. I remember when this game was released, it completely blew me away and I played through it multiple times(something I rarely do).

I have not played the game in years, not since ps1 was in its prime, I always wanted to but also worried that it did not age well and a modern playthrough would taint my memories of the game. Of course it did not age well, the camera is trash, the digital control feels weird, and the combat is overly simplistic, but I still did have fun with it. Despite its flaws it is a well made game, and while I certainly would not recommend it to a person who has never played it, I'm glad I finally replayed it.

You do have to be in the right head space for this game for sure but overall I loved it, probably an 8/10 for me. In ways I like it more than Shadow Hearts and vice versa. I enjoyed the Shadow Hearts lead characters a lot but it's always fun to play as older adults in games like here in Koudelka, her and Edward were great. The atmosphere, graphics, music, is top tier and really impressive for the PSX. I wouldn't really change anything about Shadow Hearts but I think more Koudelka styled installments with a different battle system could have been something really special, but that's the survival horror fan in me talking. The shorter ~10 hour adventure and isolated gothic mansion/dungeon setting is always something I love. The game is comparable to Silent Hill 1 for me, mechanically it's rusty around the edges and doesn't have the best gameplay, but the pros and good elements excel beyond the norm and really carry it.

45. Yooka-Laylee (Steam)

46. Snipper-Clips: Cut it Out Together! (Switch)

I hung out with a friend I hadn't seen in a while the other day and we had some extra time, so we played Switch in one of the lounge buildings at my old college. We ended up having so much fun we played through it from beginning to end

Snipper-Clips was the poster-boy first-party game for the Switch's eShop at the time of the system's launch, and there's a good reason for that. It's a great game! You and another person (up to 4 people) each control a little paper shape. You turn yourself and cut the other's shape by overlapping it with your own to solve puzzles like manipulating liquids or filling in outlines. It's only a couple hours long, but it's tons of fun to play and replay with other people :D

Verdict: Highly Recommended. If you have anyone you wanna play games with, gamer or non-gamer, Snipper-Clips is a game simple and slow enough that anyone can enjoy regardless of skill level. It takes some brain power, so it's probably best not to play it with a little-little kid, but if they can figure out how to move the little character, then they're bound to have a good time ^w^
