All Games:
Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror - Remastered - iOS
Tiki Towers 2 - iOS
inFAMOUS - PS3
The Blackwell Legacy - PC
Blackwell Unbound - PC
The Blackwell Convergence - PC

Total for 2012: 7

Blackwell Deception - PC
The character animation is the worst of the series, the backgrounds and character portraits look great, however the walking animations are terrible and as you look at them the entire game it is a big eye sore, so I just have to get that out of the way first.

Another few innovations such as having the internet on your phone, so you no longer have to go to your apartment to look up things is welcomed, the puzzles involving swapping to Joey increased, but was close to being overkill.

The story was also pretty average compared the the first three, it is still a great game, but easily the worst in the series for me.

2012:
1. Uncharted (Ps3) *NEW

I have to admit, this was the first Naught Dog game I really played besides Crash Team Racing  . I was too busy playing Spyro the Dragon and Sly Cooper to appreciate Crash and Jak & Daxter back in the day, but Uncharted was really fun. Nice mixture of third person adventure with cover-like combat and acrobatics. Some of the controls were a bit difficult when moving from cover to cover, and I thought it was cheap that two hits by the zombie spainards would kill you. Other than that, great game to start off the new year. Reminded me of a playable Tomb Raider (Ps1 original I mean) with Prince of Persia-like acrobatics. The last few chapters were kinda tough IMO but I eventually got through it. I'll be picking up the other two soon. Next up will probably be something like Chrono Trigger, Mega Man (Hopefully), Soul Caliber, or whatever comes to mind next.

Games beaten so far:
1. Mario vs Donkey Kong: Minis March Again - DSiWare 8/10
2. Sonic Generations - PS3 9/10
3. Super Mario 3D Land - 3DS 7/10
4. Starship Defense - DSiWare 5/10

Soul of Darkness - DSiWare *new* 8/10

Really fun little Castlevania clone, not on par with any modern 2D Castlevanias like Order of Ecclesia, but this was originally a cheap mobile game. For the price, it's pretty good and does some fun stuff with the Castlevania formula. I much prefer playing this on a platform with a proper d pad and buttons. I guess I'm doing ratings again so I give it an 8 out 10

Capcom Fighting Evolution is a guilty pleasure that anyone who has ever enjoyed a Capcom fighter should check out. I am not sure why it has a negative reputation, as the concept and execution are both excellent. I'd love to see a sequel.

Metal Slug XX is essentially Metal Slug 7 with a better controller. A great entry in the series and probably one of my favorites.

Ketsui Death Label is a game that I toyed around with as a ROM file a few years back on a DS Lite and while I found it enjoyable, I found many of the bullets hard to see and the emulation less than perfect. I picked up an actual copy recently and decided to dive into it on my DSiXL - and the extra screen real estate makes a HUGE difference. If there's ever been a better shmup for a handheld I don't know what it is, as this game is pretty much bullet hell boss-rush perfection. I was surprised how responsive the D-pad was, how intense some of the bullet patterns were, and how FUCKING difficult some of the later modes were. I consider opening up every mode in the game to be "beating" it, and I consider it a fine accomplishment :) A fantastic title, and perhaps my favorite DS game ever.

Whenever people bad mouth Capcom Fighting Evolution I just remind them that it is the only game where you get to dragon punch a dinosaur.
The PSTV is amazing.

Mega Man 2 - NES

I realize that it is some sort of retro gaming crime to say that I have never beat a game in the original Mega Man series, but forgive me. Honestly, I don't have any idea why it has taken me so long to truly give this game a shot. Everything, with the exception of the 4th Wily stage's boss, is absolutely perfect. And the music is probably the best that the NES has to offer. That's one hell of an accomplishment.

Now to track down the rest of the series...

1/21 Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (PS3)
1/23 Deus Ex: Human Revolution (PC)
1/31 Deus Ex: Human Revolution: The Missing Link (PC)
2/5 Blood Stone: 007 (PS3)

Ok, Blood Stone is pretty darn fun. I think it's fair to say I was not expecting much from this title, but found it really cheap, brand new for $5. This is a game where you get to feel like you're a badass secret agent and I think it's captured really well here. I didn't know this was from Bizarre Creations till I started it up (makers of the Project Gotham Racing series) and it shows in the numerous chase scenes.

Some of the things I noticed, but didn't really bother me are this:

Textures - Sometimes the textures were downright ugly when you got to close to them. I'm not sure if this is just the age of the PS3/360 starting to show or the number of PC games I've been playing lately. Not really a distraction, but I noticed occasionally.

Combat depth - There isn't much here, you are basically stealthing through this game grabing people and knocking them out, using a "focus aim" to one-shot enemies and that is it for the action sequences. This didn't bother me. I think it would have more if the game lasted longer than 5 hours. Instead it just made you feel like Bond.

Things I Liked:
The models looked like who they were supposed to and the lip-synching was generally good. The chase sequences (boat, car) were great and had a awesome sense of speed. The voice acting was the current Bond cast and did great. I liked that the length was only 5 hours (I know, I'm so old, but I love that I was able to finish this in a couple of sittings).

Overall, if you like third-person action games and can get this for $10 or less, I don't think your 5 hours would be wasted. 4/5
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.
