Re: Sega CD model 1 keeps ejecting the disk tray

Post by Hobie-wan »

Is it making a groaning noise after it appears to close, then opens back up?

Hmm, even without the noise, it could be that the belt is worn out. Once the tray closes it has to crank up the spindle and laser assembly to pick the disc up off the tray. When you have it close, does that part raise at all? If it doesn't, its usually that the black rubber belt is stretched and old.

Hmm, if it fully pulls up and starts to spin the disc to read it, the I don't know.

clean the laser.
if the drawer and spindle are moving the tray correctly, then it's most likely laser related.
If your laser is getting weak ,you may have to adjust the pot. This will buy you some time.

Woo!

Maybe something was misaligned ever so slightly, one of those take apart and reassemble and it works kind of things.
