Why people call Xbox "oXbox" here?

FWIW I hear people just say Xbox when they mean 360 as well when out and about. I've heard it at stores and in GS. I think one of my friends that only does modern gaming has done it as well.

The only aspect that lends any credence to "Xbox" meaning the 360 is the fact that the Xbox is quite literally dead. The chance that someone is actually playing an Xbox game, and not 360, when they say "I played some Xbox today" is virtually zero. For whatever reason, the 360 completely obsoleted the original and everyone seemed quite happy to dump the old games (Halo 2 being an exception). People are still playing PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games, so there is more chance for confusion.
I like how the second paragraph completely contradicts the first.

Saying nobody calls the 360 "Xbox," and then elaborating on the fact that people often do.
I like the part where he says (on a retro video gaming forum) that the chance of someone playing an original Xbox game is "virtually zero." :|

I said "no one does it", as in, "no one does it in real life". It is just a localized online meme. Also, no where in my second paragraph do I make the claims you say I do.

Even retrogamers have no use for the Xbox. Sad, but true.

Here is a tip for both of you to be more friendly: anytime you start to type a sentence that says "I like how…" when you aren't actually talking about something you like, just don't type it.

So far Microsoft has only had that one lone succesful console. If Master System, Saturn and Dreamcast are failed consoles, then so is the Xbox. Sega lost 268 million dollars because of the Saturn while Microsoft lost 4 billion dollars because of the Xbox.
Ok. I wasn't trying to make any sort of comparison between microsoft and sega's success, Just that sega's naming conventions clearly didn't make any difference in helping or saving their brand.

So how would a retro gamer go about playing Xbox games if they wanted to? Emulators are not that good and the B/C on the 360 isn't either so, the Xbox is still the best way to play Xbox games for those who want to do so.

I use my XBox all the time. Best console for multiplats that generation, and some great exclusives.

Just because nobody does it that you notice when you're interacting with other humans in meatspace doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
