Damn! Nice write up noise. Never would have guessed you were a fan.

Great to hear some awesome stuff about it then. $20 for the PS4 version definitely sounds worth it now.

More of a casual fighter guy, but Tekken has usually been my favorite in the 3D realm. I definitely had a lot of fun with DOA on the Xbox though and still can't recall if it was Ultimate 2 or the third game that I remember the most. So I'm excited to replay them to see which seems the most familiar.

Plus, no shame in loving those girls. I just wish I liked using Ayane, since she is a monster in Ninja Gaiden 3... even liked using her more than Ryu actually haha.

Been playing fighters a lot more thesedays with friends and its resurgence. So I'll probably get 5 Last Round sometime for us to have fun with.

49. We Love Katamari (PS2) (Repeat)

Quite some time ago, I was told by word of mouth that We Love Katamari was the best of the Katamari games. Such was why I held off on getting the other 3 games in the series that came out after it. Though I have not played Katamari Forever yet, of the original 4 games that all have original level content, I can say that We Love Katamari is definitely the best.

Musically I'm probably the least big fan of this one. It does have some new tracks, but it largely reuses music from the first game. My only gripe with that is that I don't really care for a good chunk of the new tracks, and some of my favorites from the first game (the original Katamari on the Rocks theme, Que Sara Sara) aren't present in this one :/ . It's a tiny gripe, but I gotta throw it out there as it was basically my only real problem with the game.

The controls and physics have been cleaned up a TON from the first game. You don't get thrown around nearly as much, mostly due to better level design and not so much that you can't be thrown around (believe me, you can). You can also climb stairs and surfaces MUCH more easily than the first game (which was a major problem), and you also don't lose items nearly as easily when you bump into stuff. Cleaning up these mechanics really makes the game far more user friendly and fun to play, and very quickly puts it objectively head and shoulders above the original.

Where this game really shines, even over it's console sequel, is level variety. There are quite a lot of stages, but more importantly, they all take place in very different locations. Not only are there just a lot of geographically unique locations that they take place in, but the item variety and mission variety is also good enough that even when you're technically somewhere that you've rolled in before, it doesn't feel like it (This is a problem that SUPER plagues the PSP game, but the 360 game to a lesser extent (which is the biggest shame, because the on-disc DLC really neuters that game's content level :/ )).

Verdict: Highly recommended. If you're gonna play just one Katamari game of the original ones, play We Love Katamari. It has fantastic level variety and mechanics, and is really one of the best presentations you can experience the game's admittedly repetitive gameplay.

It's incomprehensible to me that this track (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UABf1vJGTs8) wouldn't erase any qualms about the rest of the We ♥︎ Katamari soundtrack.

I did the three story DLCs for DAI, doing the first two on Sunday and then Trespasser tonight. After doing the first one I knew that it would be better to combine these into a single post, rather than one for each of the three, as there isn't a lot to tell about each one without going into massive spoiler territory.

So first, a quick overview of each. Jaws of Hakkon is about seeking out the resting place of the previous inquisitor from 800 years ago. It features a new zone complete with a main quest, several side quests, shard hunts, and those constellation things (the hardest ones yet). The Descent is about investigating a recent series of earthquakes in one area of the Deep Roads that is slowly seeming to be not entirely natural. This one is a straight up dungeon crawl through a pretty extensive area. Trespasser is the wrap-up DLC. It's set two years after DAI and focuses on what happens to the Inquisition now that peace is reigning. It starts with some nice catch up with your teammates moments, similar to The Citadel, before transitioning into the main story and a series of small dungeons.

Length wise they are all pretty short; the first two were about three hours each and the last one was four hours. Their main value comes in what they add to the overall DAI lore. Jaws of Hakkon is the weakest in this regard. It does have some revelations but they're not super surprising. The Descent is better in this regard; it gives a glimpse into some fundamental challenges to assumptions we have about the world of Dragon Age, and you leave, in the words of the Inquisitor, with more questions than answers. I think that's a good thing; you don't want to reveal everything all at once. Trespasser beats them both out. If you only play one piece of DAI DLC let this one be it. It serves as an Epilogue to the main story and serves a dual purpose of giving some more insight into the previously lost histories of the world and sets up the state of the world for the next entry in the series. Depending on how they want to do things they could easily get two full games out of what is set up in this DLC. It comes complete with some "where are they now" ending reveals, including a payoff from Dragon Age: Origins, should you have set the appropriate event flags across your saves.

If money is tight then my recommendation is do The Descent if you're really into the lore of the world of Dragon Age and do Trespasser no matter what. Only do Jaws of Hakkon if you're a lore slut like me who purchases all the books because you're just that into the world. It does add some to the backstory, just not as much as the implications of The Descent.

I really need to play through all the DAI DLC - I have done so for all the previous DA games and all the ME games, and just haven't sat down with DAI's stuff yet.

Popo, how would you rank the DLC for DAI vs the stuff for ME2&3 or DA1&2? I still think that the Awakenings Expansion was far and away the best DLC Bioware has put out (with Liar of the Shadow Broker being a close second)...

Awakening wasn't DLC. It was an expansion. So I think it's unfair to compare it to the others.

I'd say that Trespasser has a similar level of impact to the overall storyline as Legacy from DA2, if not more. But gameplay wise The Desecent is close to how Legacy played out. Trespasser is more like Lair of the Shadow Broker.

That said, I'm a Knight-Enchanter, so every DLC consisted of me going invincible and slashing dudes with my giant magic sword. So I sort of slept through the gameplay. There really wasn't anything I hadn't seen before.
