Versions of Super Mario Bros.

Post by BoneSnapDeez »

Trying to list all ports as I plan to review the game sometime. So far I've got:

- NES cart version. Standalone game + the Duck Hunt and Duck Hunt/Track & Field versions
- Famicom Disk System port
- Game & Watch (plays like an entirely different game)
- Vs. Super Mario Bros. arcade game (there are repro carts of this too)
- All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros. (Famicom Disk System)
- Super Mario Bros. Special for NEC PC-8801 and Sharp X1 (+ the NES ROM hacks)
- Super Mario All-Stars (SNES)
- Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (Game Boy Color)
- Classic NES Series (GBA)
- Virtual Console

Am I leaving any out? 8)

Was it an unlockable in Animal Crossing? If that counts, lol...

I wonder which NES version is the rarest? I picked up the Duck Hunt + Track & Field one a few years ago, haven't seen that one around much.

I think all three NES versions are worth about 3-4 bucks. :)

Thanks, I had forgotten that one (I've never played it).

If you're counting All-Night Nippon and the Game and Watch game might you go ahead and count the Japanese SMB 2?

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that All-Night Nippon was identical to the original just with different sprites.

The G&W game has the exact same title, but plays differently and has different levels... not quite a port, but I guess you could say it's a "version" of SMB.

Japanese SMB 2 is extremely similar to original (probably more to than the G&W and Hudson titles) so I see where you're coming from.

You're missing the Playchoice version, which is essentially an arcade version of the NES version. Much easier than the Vs. SMB.

The mini Mario games in GBA Warioware Twisted? One of the bonus Spindex games has a three level Super Mario Bros in a unique round perspective. :D
