I apologize if this is a double post
Has anyone tested the VGA cable on widescreen computer monitor? Will it stretch the image to fit the screen (Samsung 2232BW)? Is it better to stick with my old CRT monitor instead?
Generally is there a good, universal Composite/S-video/Component to DVI/VGA converter box (that might upscale ^^) without any lag (Thirdstrike could be annoying if there is drop of frames).
Planning on purchasing another Dreamcast (mine works...but strangely the vmu won't work with more than 2 controllers plugged in...I change the resistor once on my controller port cause it wasn't able to read any of the controller...urrrgh)
Planning on hooking up Gamecube (if possible)

read up on some stuff...
I guess Ima just hook up my DC only (to save me from woes)

Re: Dreamcast VGA cable (general question of about VGA...)
My widescreen TV does not stretch the image when I hook dreamcast up with VGA. I think it may depend more on the TV than the console/vga box

Re: Dreamcast VGA cable (general question of about VGA...)
nothing that i noticed. as a disclaimer, i should let you know i dont have too much playtime on the DC since getting the VGA box, well not yet anyway. Also keep in mind that there is a few games (list can be found somewhere online) not compatible with the VGA boxes

Re: Dreamcast VGA cable (general question of about VGA...)
Mine does fine on my HDTV. I do not have a VGA box but I did modify my console to output a VGA single.
Most HDTVs I've used will display the image as 4:3 with pillar bars unless you tell it to stretch the image. The VGA box/dreamcast will never be the issue in this case as it will always output the same single (640x480 progressive, otherwise known as 480p). The Dreamcast was designed to output a VGA single, VGA boxes don't really do anything special like upscaling. In other words a VGA box hooked up to a Dreamcast will never cause you to have dropped frames or "lag".
BTW if you aren't afraid of doing a little modification you can avoid buying a VGA box. Here is one of many guides that will show you how to get the Dreamcast to output VGA; http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=5694
Hope that answers your questions.
