What is the strangest, most WTF game have you played?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

What is the strangest, most WTF game have you played?

Post by onemanfilmcrew »

Hey everyone, I'm writing an article on the most out there, strangest, WTF games for the older consoles (everything up to SNES and Genesis). I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts?

My example is Whack-A-Critter for the Genesis, which is essentially a full length version of Whack-A-Mole.

Thanks for the help.

could you elaborate on you definition of "strange," i am not sure what your looking for? are you looking for visually odd, something that has a unique concept, or something completly different?

specifically I'm looking for games that when played made you think "what in the hell were the designers thinking?" i.e. why would they make an entire game based around Whack-a-Mole?

If you are looking for an abnormal game check out Jet Set Radio future.

Jet Set Radio is abnormal, but it is stylistic and a good concept for a game. I'm looking for the worst concepts/ideas for games (like Whack-a-mole). Another example could be Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom. Just something when you play it makes you just want to shake your head in disbelief.

I remember renting Three Stooges on the NES when I was about six. I remember thinking, even at that age, that the game had little to do with the Three Stooges. As I recall, it had 5 or 6 mini-games that didn't make much sense to me. Very strange (and bad).

Also, I had a friend in college with a modded XBOX with the NES games on it. Bubbble Babes had us cracking up when we stumbled upon it. It was very strange to see an 8-bit naked woman on the screen right from the get go.

Boy and His Blob for NES. I mean, it was an ok game, but really, where the heck did the idea for that game come from? I'd also consider Michael Jackson's Moonwalker for Genesis. Not the greatest concept for a game, in retrospect.

But I actually was fond of Moonwalker 8) If you're looking for naff ideas for videogames the DS library has dozens of them. Also, Custer's Revenge springs to mind.

I'd say that one fortune telling game for the NES is pretty bad, but there's also a game for the DS called "LOL" where four DSs link up and each player makes a picture, and they all vote on which is funniest. Not only is it an extremely short game, but you can do everything in LOL in Pictochat.
