Ok guys, I have given myself an official quest, to seek out every fighting game for the SNES, American release only, no wrestling games, beat-'em-ups, or boxing titles.

Here's what I've got so far:

Art of Fighting
Ballz 3D
Battle Blaze
Best of the Best Championship Karate
Brutal Paws of Fury
Clayfighter
Clayfighter Tournament Edition
C2: Judgment Clay
Doomsday Warrior
Double Dragon V: The Shadow Falls
Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story
Fatal Fury
Fatal Fury 2
Fatal Fury Special
Fighter's History
Justice League Task Force
Killer Instinct
King of the Monsters
King of the Monsters 2
Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat 2
Mortal Kombat 3
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Pit-Fighter
Power Instinct
Power Moves
Power Rangers Fighting Edition
Primal Rage
Ranma 1/2: Hard Battle
Rise of Robots
Samurai Shodown
Shaq Fu
Street Combat
Street Fighter 2
Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Super Street Fighter 2
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tournament Fighters
Tuff E Nuff
Ultraman
WeaponLord
World Heroes
World Heroes 2

I seriously appreciate any help.

To be honest, I didn't like WeaponLord. But yes it did, so I'm gonna have to grab it. I just feel Namco did a lot better with the Soul Calibur series.

WeaponLord's got a funny control scheme, to be sure, but once you 'get it', it's fantastic.

True, WeaponLord is easily one of the most complex fighting games to ever be released, combining almost all of the best stuff from the various fighters released at the time and adding in quite a bit of features that wouldn't see the light of day again for at least a few more years. I'd say it was definitely ahead of it's time, I just never got into it, mainly because the AI seemed to think I'd have a better career as a beach ball.

Ok, so here's the list of SNES versus-fighting games that I've compiled so far, not including the games I already own:

Looks like I got them all!

Not a great game, but i think King of the Monsters would be in that category.

Art of fighting 2 didn't come out in the US (not sure about japan)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tournament Edition is actually called Tournament Fighters

Your list is missing Ranma 1/2: Hard Battle

Ok then, Art of Fighting 2 is struck from the list. Thanks for the heads up about TMNT: Tournament Fighters. I'm surprised Ranma 1/2: Hard Battle came out here at all...

As far as King of the Monsters and King of the Monsters 2 goes, I saw them listed as wrestling games. Having not played them myself, would others consider them fighting games?

Also, what about Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story? I've seen it listed as fighting, 2d platformer, action/adventure, beat-'em-up, so on and so forth. Opinions?

It's definitely a fighting game. A BAD one, to be sure, but fighting nonetheless.
