Re: Syd Bolton's 15,000 games? collection
The "world record" simply means that the 10,000 games guy decided to inform Guinness about his collection and applied to get it recognized.
Obviously there are many bigger collections out there.
There's gotta be some dude in England who has like 20,000 ZX Spectrum games or something.
Also, $500 for a Virtual Boy? Screw all these shows for promoting shit like this.

Couldn't have said it better myself bonesnap! Here here.
Though on that world record stuff, remember it's also about non-duplicate games (including multiple iterations of game on different consoles that do not contain significantly different content), non-digital, non-homebrew and non-PC.
None of these mega collections really impress me. They are just lucky enough to have the money to buy out huge lots, failed businesses or are former vendors themselves. Show me a much smaller, hand-picked collection of super rare games all CiB over a giant pile of worthless, never-gonna-even-be-played and unwanted games... any day.

"Are you Syd?"
"No I'm not, who the eff are you and why are these camera men in my house?"
I hate that fake "meeting for the first time" nonsense.
