Hey, all. I'm looking to buy a Neo-Geo CD, but I had some questions first:
1. Are all versions of the console actually unreliable, or is that just crap?
2. Is there any kind of copy-protection/regional lockout?
3. Generally speaking, how much do the games cost? Are they as horrendously priced as the AES Games?
EDIT:
4. If I end up with a Japanese NG-CD, can it be plugged up in the US without the need for a converter?

Get a CDZ if you get one. Loadtimes are bad:

Not every game is that bad, but it gives you a good idea of what you are looking into.

Re: Neo-Geo CD Questions
As addendums:
No copy protection whatsoever, so it's an excellent way to try before you buy on the games (I certainly do recommend buying, but it's nice to know sometimes)
There is no regional protection, but like most (all?) NG systems, language is decided by the region of the system, not the region of the game. Now granted, many (some would say most) games require minimal reading to enjoy, but it's worth noting. The good news? Changing the region in a NGCD is as simple as a jumper. If you really want to get fancy, you can install a switch and toggle between all 3 regions easy-peasy.

Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

Re: Neo-Geo CD Questions
some games are cheap and some get more pricey due to demand and title
i recommend getting original games over doing burns , ive read Neo CD Consoles dont really like backups and the laser dies much sooner than when using originals.
checkout the links below , i also recommend getting some backup lasers to keep your possible Neo CD going for years.
