One of my GameCube memory cards is almost dead. It sometimes works it sometimes doesn't. I have my F-Zero GX and Animal Crossing saves on it. Is there any way to copy the content to another memory card when it's working? I tried the normal copy method but the files are protected. Is there a device that will let me download the files to my pc then to another card? Maybe I can invest in something that will let me backup all my files on a pc in case the cards die.

I've read that Nintendo made it so that you cannot copy AC files on purpose. Though this isn't a perfect solution, you could make a new town on a new memory card and let your character move to the new town.

You might want to try it on the Wii ... my daughter had the same problem when I bought her a pink memory card and the Wii solved it.

It seems both of those games are copy protected. I'm currently using a Wii.

Yeah sorry, you got two of the uncopyables. I know people have had mixed results with a second memory card with a new fzero save, loading up their primary save, then while in a race swapping to the new save card. Sometimes it saves properly, most of the time it just locks up, and some times it does nothing.

Thanks I'll give that a try with F-Zero.

If that doesn't work for you and your save is really important, you could mail the card to me along with your new card. I can use my modded GC (Viper GC Extreme Pro) which has the ability to dump/load saves via the USB connection. Just include enough stamps to cover the return postage. If you want to try this, just send me a PM.

I have Animal Crossing myself and can verify that I'm able to dump/load myself before we actually go through with this.

Thanks I haven't tried the methods mentioned above, but I'm thinking it's not going to be possible even with a modded GC. From what I read so far it seems the game encrypts the save with the number given to the card when format is given or something like that. So when the game tries to decrypt the save shows up as corrupted.

So I'm basically giving up on it. Now I'm trying to figure out how to copy saves from the web to a memory card.

did you at least try moving your character to a new town on a new memory card like I suggested?

I'm trying it tonight. I haven't been home early enough to play around with the game. Too much work :?
