greatest Thanksgiving movie ever? I believe so. You laugh hysterically for 98% and then feel like crying like a baby at the end. John Hughes ruled.

Funny that you guys are discussing Planes, Trains and Automobiles. My family's watching that in the room below mine right now.

Snow White and The Huntsman

Pretty damn good. If you're a fantasy fan, you need to check this one out. Some amazing visuals here.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (1987) - I never did get around to watching this yesterday, but I woke up early this morning with the intention of getting it in before the house woke up. I will not make a better decision all day. First, props to noise for suggesting this the other day - I haven't watched this film in easily 15 years and I have NEVER watched it in its unedited entirety (I only remember seeing it - or at least pieces of it - on TV when I was in junior high). Seeing it this morning was like seeing a brand new film (for example the rental counter scene was new to me!), and what a remarkable piece of film making it is. Hughes' script is superb, the directing is spot on, Martin and Candy are at the top of their game at playing complex comedic roles, and the way that this film pays a sort of twisted tribute to the midwest is the only thing I've seen outside of Fargo to really nail it. There are so many perfectly timed lines, so many things that you can laugh at even though you know what will happen, and such a well-baked ending that there's a good argument to be made that this is Hughes' best film.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Polka polka polka.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I remember that kevin's mom tried to sell her earrings for a ticket, and an old guy said his wife already had big dangly ones, which I was confusing with the part where john candy tries to sell shower curtain rings as earrings in planes trains and automobiles. Damn all these John Candy/john hughes/holiday travelling movies. . .
