What's your gripe with the SS version? :?
OMG. did you actually try both versions? The only thing the PSX version was lacking was the extra level, items, and Maria. But it was superior in everyother way. The PSP isnt so bad either. I normal screen it. I really do miss the extra l and r buttons.

lso I still cant get online with SSSB. Seriously come to america and try to play here.
Like OMG! Yeah~ I've not only tried both but I own both versions (my friend even gave me the SS version for my birthday back in the day 'cause he knows I'm a huge Castlevania fan). The only thing that was slightly weaker were the visuals on transparancies and IIRC load times were a bit longer. I never saw what people made such a big deal out of for that port.

Yeah, I guess it must suck not to play SSBB online. Move to Europe or Japan. ;)

MGS: Twin snakes for the GC. I have no first hand experience with this one, but I hear they didn't fuck around with anything but the graphics.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

They added some gameplay from MGS2 like 1st person aiming etc. But not a big change overall IMO.

As far as remakes go, I prefer the GC Resident Evil over the PS1, but that's because they took what I loved about it and added more, so it's more difficult and more frightening. It was a great update to an older game.

In general though, I almost always prefer the original to any ports that might come along. Especially with a PC game going to console or vice-versa. Even when they add extra features, if it's in the same generation of consoles, I usually go with the first.

How is HL2 better on consoles? There's mods, K/M controls, and the ability to fuck around with the game, like flying around, shooting that damn combine who tells you to pickup the can...
And Halo 1 and 2? And Crazy Taxi? And whatever that first one is? If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were trolling.
Return Fire is awesome, but I'd wager that it's better on the 3DO.

Slowdown was slooooooow. When Alucard's cape is enough to slowdown the entire fucking screen, you know something is wrong. Saturn was made for 2D, so they really have no excuse. If transparencies were such a huge issue, they should have pulled a Megaman X4 on the game, and made all shadow motions solid.

And yes, those extra load screens were complete bullshit. Also the two new levels Saturn got were very weak and felt out of place with the others, both visual and musically. Most of the new enemies were pretty stupid also. Maria was the only thing they handled well. I enjoyed playing as her.

And they made all the cutscenes CRAZY DRAMATIC AND SLOW-MOTIONY.

And Mei Ling lost her accent.

As did Naomi, but who gives a shit? Twin Snakes takes entirely too much flak. People always bitch about the cutscenes, the acting, the music. None of which are valid arguments. Aside from the rocket jumping shit, the cutscenes weren't so overthetop, and were actually quite an upgrade over the originals. People who whine about the scenes must not have played MGS2 or MGS3. Also, I guarantee you, I can take comparisons on the acting and sample them to people unfamiliar with the game, and they'd be split 50/50. It's a case of vocal delivery nostalgia and nothing more. Also Frank Jaeger wasn't black, so it's probably a good thing that he stopped sounding black. The score was changed from a very limited masterpiece, to a very broad masterpiece. They created as many amazing tracks as they omitted, and inserted a lot of less noticeable but highly appropriate BGM. Each boss theme was unique and amazing, (aside from the Solid vs Liquid fistfight, which might as well have been Yakety Sax).

Would you like a valid argument? Try: The facial modeling of just about every character.

I am with you man, unless there was something really really wrong with the original that made it horrible to play, i.e. Resident Evil series on PS1. I just cannot overcome the control scheme of that awesome series. I think the original game is the creator's vision of it and shouldn't be tampered with. To make any changes would only deviate from that vision and thus, take away some of the game's soul. :P

One exception is if there were some hardware limitations of the original system that can be overcome by a new and more powerful system. In saying that, the remake must be handled by the original creator and not a pass me down company that cannot see what the original vision of the game was.

I used to mostly be a PC gamer and both of the halo's have new high res textures on pc as well as map editors (halo ce for halo 1). Crazy Taxi runs better on PS2 imo but mabe its because my PS3 upscales games. I prefer shooters on a gamepad so thats why I say HL2 is better on consoles (ps3 alows mouse support too). I saw some slowdown in Return Fire on 3DO which was not on the PSOne version. Nobody says you have to agree w/ me.
