Who here liked the PSX games? I think I remember A Time to Kill was really cool.

So I have to explain this to you? Read the post again, seriously.MidnightRider wrote:http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/esqueyomomma1 wrote: Read that again.

Poster was suggesting that if A duke nukem video game was in the style of metroidvania game, it would be pretty awesome. Not saying that Manhattan project was metroidvania, read the post.

lol, thank you yomomma1.
I was just impressed with how HUGE Manhattan Project project was for a sidescroller, and you got some nice pickups increasing stats, found new weapons, etc. I just kept thinking "Wow if this were open world or more like Metroid this would probably be absolutely killer." That or if they made a sequel that was in that style it would've been cool.
So yes, yomomma1 got what I was saying.

So am I the only one actually enjoying this game? Seriously...
- Some great platforming I haven't really seen since Half-Life 2
- BOSS BATTLES. Wow I never realized how much I miss these in FPS's. Most of them have been pretty fun so far.
I think the game starts off a tad slow, but once I got out of Duke's huge mansion or whatever starting with the Duke Dome levels, it's honestly been pretty damn fun. The platforming in the Duke Burger was hilarious. My only complaint is the obvious two weapons thing, but you're never really running low on ammo or anything. It's a shame though, so many great weapons... I can imagine we'll see some mods that enable you to carry everything sometime for the PC version though.
Seriously folks, I don't think it's THAT bad. I'm definitely gonna see this one through to the end.

Its fun, and that's all that matters to me.

Just finished working my way through the Hive. The boss fight was a little gimmicky, but it didn't overstay its welcome, which was good. Overall it's a fun trip through blowing shit up, which is pretty much all I was expecting.

Glad you guys dig it. Yeah the Hive boss was probably the only one I didn't totally love, but oh well. From that point on the game feels quite a bit like Half-Life 2 / FEAR in design, which was fine with me.
I just finished it up myself, really was not that bad at all. The extras you unlock afterwards are really awesome... lots of screenshots throughout it's 12 years of development, concept art, trailers throughout the years, a timeline of its history, and some other stuff. Very cool.
However, the ultimate thing that would have made this the best game ever, is if the early builds were somehow playable in some fashion as unlockables or something. The late 90's build and the early 2000's builds looked really awesome honestly, better than what we got in some ways. But it was also cool seeing how some of the idea's and such carried over into what we got. But yeah, when you guys check out the screenshots and those trailers again, it's like you're seeing completely different games... obviously, but yeah. It would have been very cool to have been able to play them somehow.
Overall, if you guys can just put yourself in the last gen mindset, and want an FPS that has some nice platforming, fun bosses, and a little attitude, it's good ... I liked it!

I'll have to give that a shot. I was put off by the Duke 3D aesthetic and kinda wrote it off without trying it. I think we can all rest comfortably knowing that another Duke game is (hopefully) unlikely to happen.AppleQueso wrote:Manhattan Project?t0yrobo wrote:I'm not surprised by the critics reactions one bit. You know what the game is pretty enjoyable, there are bits so far where it dips into 'bad game' zones but it comes back up by just being fun.
