I've been working on it (shh, don't tell any one) but I have to wait for some parts to come in.

how ever, this won't quite work, as he was changing from a tray load to a slot load - which is more similar then 'lid' loading to slot loading.

Oh yeah I saw that thread when it fist came about. The finished result looks awesome too.

My first idea about slot loading was actually removing the case of the DC completely. Then just lining up the slot loading half of the disc drive on the iMac to the exposed laser/mounting system of the GD-ROM and then using a timing circuit and a linear actuator or something similar to just push the disc onto the spindle. The only issue then is getting the disc back off...
