What Remains of Edith Finch. Also makes great study music.

Would all the licensed music in Guardians Of The Galaxy: The Telltale Game count in this thread? Cuz it's good stuff.

Re: Your favorite OST for 2017!
1. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - Yasunori Mitsuda, Tomori Kudo, Hiroyo "Chico" Yamanaka, Kenji Hiramatsu, and Manami Kiyota
It should come as no surprise if you have been paying attention to my posts of late, but Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is my #1 pick for the year. The full OST has not been released yet so the selections below are from the Special Edition soundtrack CD.
Notable Songs:
Mor Ardain - Roaming the Wastes
Counterattack
Battle!!
2. Xenoblade Chronicles - Manami Kiyota, Tomori Kudo, Hiroyo "Chico" Yamanaka, Kenji Hiramatsu, Yoko Shimomura, and Yasunori Mitsuda
In response to the announcement of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 back in January, I replayed Xenoblade Chronicles for a second time.
Notable Songs:
Colony 9
Gaur Plains
Confrontation with the Enemy
3. Final Fantasy XV - Yoko Shimomura
Final Fantasy XV started out very strong but as I played I began to notice its numerous flaws. However the soundtrack is not one of them.
Notable Songs:
Stand Your Ground
APOCALYPSIS AQUARIUS
Valse di Fantastica
4. Killer Instinct - Mick Gordon, Celldweller, and Atlas Plug
I still play the new Killer Instinct from time to time. Its soundtrack is exceptional - especially for a fighting game. I think Season 1 and 2's songs by Mick Gordon are better than Celldweller & Atlas Plug's Season 3 songs but they still hold their own. Below are sample songs from each season.
Notable Songs:
Hinnamatoom
Polemos
The Watchman of the Gods
5. Super Mario Odyssey - Naoto Kubo, Shiho Fujii, and Koji Kondo
I did not see this one coming. The Mario series has always had pretty good music but Odyssey is the first one that I think is truly great.
Notable Songs:
Steam Gardens - Wooded Kingdom
Honeylune Ridge: Escape - Moon Kingdom
Jump Up, Super Star! NDC Festival - Metro Kingdom

Sonic Mania OST fo sho! Wish I would find it on COMPACT DISC. I did see it's on vinyl but I don't have a player.

Man, I loved this song. So good.
I need to look at what I've played from this year, see if any others stand out.
EDIT: How... how could I forget Ys VIII. Geez, this is the obvious choice for me by far.
Lacrimosa of Dana: Opening Version
Sunshine Coastline
A Footprint in the Wet Sand
Crimson Fighter
Overcome the Rocky Path
Gens d'Armes
Next Step Toward the Unknown
Great Plains: Pan-Gaia

Confirmed. Probably just as good as Nier Automata and Sonic Mania for me, rounding out my ultimate top 3 for 2017.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 OST - Awakening
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 OST - Mor Ardain - Roaming the Wastes
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 OST - Old Factory
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 OST - The World-Tree
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 OST - Gormott (Day)
More like an 11/10!
Re: Your favorite OST for 2017!
Too many--. I'm going to try to compile them into a list from ultimately best, to least best, with example tracks. None of them are modern games, though.
Here goes:
Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter
Kind Friends
Lift
Trinity Pit
Akumajou Dracula (X68k FM--the CV Chronicles team mangled the hell out of the original OST, unfortunately.)
Load BGM
Vampire Killer
Bloody Tears
Moon-Fight
Dragon Slayer: Eiyuu Densetsu II
Title Theme
Burden of the Ruined Town
The Emperor's Battle (Yes, the final battle was exactly as nuts as it sounds.)
Game Over
Panzer Dragoon II
Legend of Light
An Attack from Darkness
The Unexpected Enemy
Dragon Quest V (PS2)
The Ocean
Melody in an Ancient Town
Heaven
Tantei Jinguuji Saburo: Yokohama-kou Renzoku Satsujin Jiken
Opening Theme
Password Screen
Ending Theme
Final Fantasy XI: Chains of Promathia
Movalpolos
Currents of Time
Second Ode: Distant Promises
Panzer Dragoon Orta
City In The Storm
Eternal Glacies
Anu Orta Veniya
Panzer Dragoon
Flight (Orchestra)
Empire
Other pretty good soundtracks:
Mega Bomberman (could be largely due to nostalgia)
Saturn Bomberman
Rent a Hero

Re: Your favorite OST for 2017!
Damn pierrot, that list is like Game Genie and Game Shark fused... PS2 era Capcom stuff is amazing, old Castlevania is always S-Rank, Dragon Slayer: Eiyuu Densetsu II is immaculate, and the whole Panzer Dragoon series has some godly music. Swimming in goods there.
