Consumers catalog from 1991
Re: Consumers catalog from 1991
Since the Genesis and 2600 was sold at the same time, does that mean they were part of the same generation? The SNES is coming soon, so that must be next gen...
This is actually right about the same time I got my Genesis. Sonic 1 was new and the controllers still had red detailing. Sonic wasn't on the Game Gear yet. Hulkamania was still running wild!

Unless I'm mistaken, it's the original design. Later it was replaced with white.

Yeah, I got my Genesis late in it's life, after the PS1 had been priced at $150, so mine have all had white detailing.

im pretty sure that Atari was releasing new games for the 2600 until the early 90s....so not so unlikely....just a bit funny to see it for the same price as a Tiger handheld.

Whee, either Gateway 2000 computers were an even better deal than I thought when the company started or those Smith Corona computers are a really terrible price. They wanted $1700 for that computer in the catalog. My parents bought a Gateway 2000 machine with the same processor and HD, but with 4 megs of memory and what was certainly a better video card for $2000 2 years earlier.

I definitely remember new Atari 2600 games for sale into at least 1989 and later.
The Genesis controllers for sure had red detailing until, I believe, 1992 (might have been late 1991). Oh, the money that was saved by not using red detailing!!! Sega was rolling in riches after that.

Same great pics in the OP, thanks for postint this Ziggy. Please post more!
This reminds me of Toys R Us when they had the huge glass trophy cases. Huge "fish tank" displays with SNES, Genesis, C64, Aquarius, Lynx, Micro Vision and Turbo Grafx 16 inside. If only one had known back then, all the Hu Cards! I could have lived very happy in that fish bowl.
