Retron 1 uk power issues

Post by mooks »

Hi guys,

Got myself a retron 1 as a backup to my original nes as it has started to wear out a bit, however it came with a US power plug only. I'm not experienced with UK/us power things, and was wondering if anyone could advise me as too if I need a converter etc?

Power plug it came with has these deets on it:

Input 110v-60hz 90mA
Output 6v 250mA

Any help would be much appreciated, rather not just shove it in the wall and have it explode!

You either need a stepdown convertor that plugs into the wall and gives you 110-125 volts out to plug that US adapter into it or buy a different UK power brick that spits out 6 volts and at least 250 mA (higher is ok). There should be an indication on the brick that came with it of the polarity, very likely it will show you that the center is negative. Match all that with a plug that fits and it will work fine. Getting a new brick to use for UK power will be cheaper.

It's likely cheaper to get a suitable power adapter at a thrift shop. Then you don't have to wait for shipping or deal with the bulky stepdown converter for such a simple console.
