If Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Was In HD…

Some of you way have already seen this in the forum, but I had to share this with everyone…

If Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Was In HD

Just imagine if Sega remastered Sonic 2 or 3 with the same care that Capcom is taking with the HD Remix of Super Street Fighter 2…

Wow congrats on all the diggs racketboy! I really liked the articles on your site, and i knew this post would be perfect for getting you some exposure. 😉

racketboy says:

Thanks man — I appreciate the submission.
I had no idea it would be so popular! I think this is my most popular digg so far…

1.) No, in Sonic 1 you could not transform into Super Sonic even after gathering all 6 of the Chaos Emeralds, so it was kinda pointless
2.) Sonic 3 + Sonic&Knuckles was WAY better than Sonic 2.
3.) If Sega or Sonic Team, or whoever makes the shitty Sonic games of today, if they were to polish up in HD fashion: Sonic 1, 2, 3, Sonic&Knuckles, and Sonic CD; and bundled that onto one sold CD for the major consoles out right now (PS3, 360, and the Wii); that game would sell better than every single 3-D Sonic game since Sonic Adventure.

neomerge says:

that would be INSANE!

mase says:

thats terrible, doctor robotonik looks like a cheesy whore. the whole beauty of the game is tarnshied, the look of sonic and the feel is what makes the game so great. classics should never be changed, its how they became classics. because of how the game was made, not how it wasn’t.

Aulbath says:

Doesn’t work for me… looks way too Photoshop and has too little good ole Sonic-love. Highres-Photoshopstuff with Layereffects and crappy “looks like rendered”-visuals just turn me off big time.

Why is it that just because it’s high-res, everything has to be so darn detailed (just look at all those surface-structures on Robotnik’s machine) and crammed to the brink with shiny-pshop-effects?

If anything, Sonic would need a much more comic-like approach, with flat-shades and bright colors. Though in all honesty, they should just finde a way to scale it up so it runs on HD and leave ít as pixels. Every attempt in recreating stuff that sacred is just some kind of rape and hurts badly (same with SSF2, I mean look at Cammy or Guile… they are just plain horrible).

“2.) Sonic 3 + Sonic&Knuckles was WAY better than Sonic 2.”

Wrong, sonic 2>>>>>>>>>>>>>every other sonic game made

midge-man says:

p.s sonic 3 and knuckles was just as good as sonic 2, but both had they’re better moments.

p.s.s mase, aulbath TRY PLAING THE GAMES!!!!!!!!! IDIOTS!

Gamboi says:

Since i saw Square-Enix last games, i hate remakes, but…wtf, this game could be great :).

David says:

Oh well, I miss my child sonic days… 🙁 I’m getting older.

It’s an insult that people wonder why Sonic has 0 rings in the Death Egg@Sonic 2.

Manuel Mora says:

I want it!!! :'(

Amy says:

Amazing!! GO sonic!

Well, well, well. Guess what? Sonic 2 HD v2.0 is going to be released at this SAGE, going on right now at the time of posting this comment. How about that? 😀

Thanks for the heads-up — it looks very impressive! It’s interesting that you bring this up to me now as I’ve been spending a lot of time playing though the iOS ports on my Apple TV (with Bluetooth controller, of course) and I’m impressed by the port and the new engine there. I was actually quite content with it, but this Sonic 2 HD would be wonderful to play through as well. It seems that a lot of time and devotion has been put into it! I actually like the looks of this more than the Street Fighter II HD remix so far. Perhaps I need to do a new blog post about this topic. Thanks again!

SasDaGreat says:

It certainly is impressive! The engine feels like Sonic, but the whole thing is in dazzling HD. Plus, there are a few of the good things from S3&K brought into it: zone transitions, victory animations, different music for each act etc. Overall, just an awesome game.
The Sonic 2 HD team (the original S2HD team is now Pagoda West Games iirc, the same company behind Sonic Mania) also showed off trailers and animation/coding timelapses on their YouTube channel, you should check them out as well!
Also, I thought this was a dead thread, based on how the last comment was from more than 9 years ago (woah!); thanks for replying!
