SNK held an investor meeting today and announced that a new Metal Slug title is in the works. They also announced new consoles that are in development - a Neo Geo 2 & 3. SNK cited the better than expected sales of the Neo Geo Mini as the reason for getting back into the console business. The only detail listed is that it will be a "semi-open platform".

How do you think SNK will distinguish themselves from the rest of the console market? Will they be a premium platform again or will they go in another direction?

I would be surprised if they were aiming to compete with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. My guess would be they're just gonna do their own niche thing. But a fourth major player in the console market would be cool!

From what I can gather, there has been no confirmation whether it will be a main series entry or a spin off. The only thing confirmed is that it will be available on consoles.

Certainly, they existed, those blinded by ambition.
