yeah I've always wanted to try it. Maybe I'll keep my eyes peeled instead of more years of "someday!"

I first played it by burning a downloaded ISO to a CD-R, just to try it out and then I just kept an eye out for any auctions going on Ebay, to try and get the best price.

I don't know if you ever burn games (I don't personally, any more), but you could always try it (I think it's also a game that is compatible and works well via the SD Card reader, if you have one of those).

I don't burn games personally. I can't explain but I just don't have any interest. Once in a while I burn a homebrew game if that's the only option. But I haven't even done that in a few years. It's why I didn't get around to playing Volgar The Viking actually.

I actually do have one of those SD Card readers, but I was never able to get it to work for some reason. Shrug.

Yeah, I'm the same. I don't burn games and I don't use the SD Card reader. I can't help thinking CD-Rs reduce the life of the Dreamcast's lens anyways, even if you do get a "good" rip.

Is the original Soul Calibur the best 3D fighting game ever?

Personally, I prefer DOA2 to Soul Calibur. Which isn't knocking SC at all. I've just always had a bit of a love/hate relationship with the series. For a guy who's complained as much as I have about various Soul Caliburry things, I sure have played a lot of hours of those games.

But I'll agree that SC is likely my favorite entry in the entire series. And dammit, it IS just visually incredible - much like DOA, these are two games I'd point to to really show off the 3D capabilities of the console. Of course in fairness it's probably even more impressive for SC considering it was a launch title.

Oh, and I never liked the missions in any SC. I might be a bit of a contrarian here, though. I mean, I prefer Sonic Adventure to Mario 64 so whatever.

I must admit, I haven't played through the mission mode since I was a kid, just after it first came out (I also played Soul Calibur 2's mission mode). At the time, I loved it. I was so used to fighting games just having the standard "do 8-12 fights in a row" Arcade mode and not much else.

Now games like the Mortal Kombat and DOA series tend to have more super long Story Modes, where you change characters as the story progresses, which is arguably more interesting.

Can't list some of the best games ever, without mentioning the original NES Super Mario Bros., right?

Today's game is another unusual Sega Saturn gem. It's an isometric action RPG called Dark Savior.

I didn't know much about this game. Didn't realize it was even part of the 'Stalker' series of games. Sounds like kind of a mixed bag though, eh? I can't say I'm gonna run out and add to the top of my "to get" list.
