Update:

I now have 5 names + Doc. Halfway there!

You guys and your "choices". I'm liking the serious ones I got in the PMs, but the ones here in the thread

Man, you guys are all such shmup snobs. I don't see what's wrong with half the ones you're jokingly listing.

Nearing the end all!

Just need the picks from hashiriya1 and Tyranix95. I'll be PM'ing them once more.

I've got DocHauser's backup pick. I'll be in contact with o.pw as a possible backup for hashi, but I'm hoping that they'll get back to me by the end of this weekend. Once that's done, the picks will be announced early next week. Thanks to all who sent theirs in!

After only a week of discussion and nominations, I have received all the PMs from the committee members and now I am ready to reveal to the RB community the 2014 Shmup of the Month calendar! It was a lot of fun to get the PMs from the people that are making this calendar possible. A big thanks to all who PMed me quickly and for making it an easy and stress-free process to determine what we are going to play next year. One more big thanks goes to DocHauser & o.pwuaioc for stepping up and getting me some backup picks when they were needed.

A few interesting facts from next year's calendar -

- The time period covered in these picks spans 17 years.

- We will be having 6 games from before 1995 and 6 games from after 1995. I'm considering the STGT next year, if organized the same way, to have 3 weeks of games past 1995, so that's one of the newer months too. I have alternated the calendar to have a newer game and an older game with a month between them to balance everyone's tastes more fairly.

- Once again the committee managed to pick each game from a different developer! There are no duplicate companies represented for the third year in a row, going back to this program's inception. The STGT might be a different story.

- Best of all, your dear leader will be able to play all of the picks this year. That right there is important given my status as the organizer

Finally, before I begin, a friendly reminder to please don't shoot the guy behind the scenes. I just put the thing together, and remember that this was a shmup-tatorship!

LET THE UNVEILING BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was the result of the first ever shmuptatorship, an even balance of classic and modern. However, no calendar is ever perfect when everyone picks and thinks differently on certain games. I feel it is a great blend of old and new and I would definitely continue nominating this way.

All that being said, let the feedback begin!

I dunno if I'll be able to join in many of these. We'll see.
