The 80's were known for T-n-A in all media. Nothing sums up the 89's-90's like some soft porn comedy (see Cinemax, aka Skinemax, after 1am during that time - Ski School was always my favorite).

Also the Maniac Mansion series - both the original and Day of the Tentacle.

The most iconic adventure game series on PC was King's Quest. Might not have been the best in quality (probably Monkey Island takes that nod), but Sierra was king for a while, and King's Quest was the way you played adventure games.

I enjoyed Quest for Glory more than Kings Quest.
The Space Quest series was my 2nd favorite after Larry Laffer during the Sierra days.

Yeah, but notice how many more King's Quest games there are than any other adventure series.

Yep I am in agreement with you. even though I feel kings quest is far inferior to any of the other Sierra series, it was the most popular and well known in gaming.

In retrospective analysis, the King's Quest series is shallow and frustrating, but it was also the 800 lb adventure game gorilla. It is basically the figurehead (hood ornament?) of the entire adventure genre.

Absolutely which is why it defined pc gaming. A game doesn't have to be good to define the platform and I think a lot of people have a hard time with that.

Yup, I agree the "Defining" series isn't a "top20" list. It's abit different. Which is why, despite being ridiculed, Myst belongs. Because holy crap. It sold like gangbusters and launched an uncountable number of imitators.

I don't disagree with you, I just liked Quest for Glory better.
