The Switch Lite specifically feels like a spiritual successor to the Vita. Almost feels like what Sony would have put out if given a second crack at the portable market. Adding second set of shoulder buttons, clickable sticks, bigger screen.
Technically you meant third crack, I guess.
Both have an exhaustive support of Japanesey titles too, even Neptunia V2 made its way to Switch.
I feel like I have to retreat when anyone potentially knows me and any of those unforgivable shenanigans I refuse to own up to (because others' accounts of them are far more trustworthy).
I just discovered I am a total idiot for delaying original Doom gaming because I have no Windows machine and there is no Doom for MacOS. I thought of running a virtual machine Windows, and even got Codeweavers (WineHQ in a nice package) and tried installing Steam in it and Doom from within that and it moved in slow motion and crashed my computer.
I’m seeing some activity in the Doom thread. Outside of the two newer games, I own one other Doom game at the moment: Doom Advance. Maybe I should run through that. I played a few minutes awhile back and it’s actually pretty neat. Though I don’t know where that falls in the classic Doom hierarchy.
Edit: it’s not actually called Doom Advance. I mixed it up with another classic FPS that added Advance to the name. It’s actual ports of Doom and Doom II. My bad.
I own too many hoodiesjackets hoodies and DS games and I’m not ashamed!
I want ID/Bethesda to bring back the Wolf3d and Doom RPGs for iOS. They never got updated to 64-bit, but by all accounts they were fantastic little games.
I have several iOS 32-bit era games that are saved on my PC that I would love to play again. I looked into an iOS emulator for PC a few years ago but I don’t remember what happened to it. Might have lost interest at the time.

There's this hurdle with a lot of games that makes it quite difficult. I find these few games that are amazing in concept, but the learning curve overwhelms me and I get way too intimidated and don't wanna play it anymore. How do you get over that hurdle? Is it just a lack of self-confidence on my part?

I tell myself it's okay to suck at a game, I don't have to master it or fully understand it as long as I'm having fun.
If I'm not having fun I just accept not every game is going to be for me even if I think it's interesting or well made otherwise.

I established a rule for myself a while back that if I started a game I would stick with it until I beat it and I wasn't allowed to start a different one until then. I don't hold to it 100%, but I have to be stuck for weeks before I let myself give up on a game.
I'll also let myself bail on a game if I decide early on that I hate it and never want to come back, or if I run into accessibility issues (I'm colorblind) that are going to be a significant factor in the game.
This has helped me beat a lot of games I started but gave up on as a kid, or ones I would likely give up as "too hard" if I could just switch to a different game whenever I wanted.
