Question, I have my PS2 set on 16:9 display, will this conflict in any way with what I'm trying to do? Should I set it back to 4:3?

You mean a couple of your own games that are not on my list?
You can go back to ulaunch, just boot to dev1. That should do it. Or try the other boot to´s
I can´t imagine setting the ps2 to 16:9, 4:3 or full would make any difference. That setting is just built into the signal it outputs. If your ps2 is set to 16:9. Your tv will get a message stating that the tv-mode should be set to 16:9. Vice versa with 4:3. Most of the games I play in the ps2 do not have 16:9, so my ps2 is set to 4:3 anyway. (less switching it back all the time to 4:3 on my tv.)

Weird, neither Dev Boot or Dev Boot1 work, same problem.

I think you have to have boot.elf in the boot folder in the root of your mc0.
Not sure though, but that could be it.
I have a standard noobie pack installation and I just go to ulaunchelf.
There are many possibiliets with Free mc boot and other programms.
Creativity is the only limit.
But apart from this minor issue. Does gsm work for you or not?
Again, you need to have luck to have a game that it works with.
Just try something out of my list and that should work and then you´ll know if it works and what the result can be for other games. It´s al ot of work experimenting, but If you do find games that can be forced in 480p let us know.

I don't know if it works yet, I'm still trying to get it working with uLaunch. So you say there should be a root folder in my mc0? I looked there and didn't see one.

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it working with PS2 Browser. I tried Champions: Return to Arms, but it was all glitched out. The image got halved into two vertical sections, the top one looked smooth, but it was at half its original height. I will try some more games out.

I have come across an ELF file for the PS2
http://www.mediafire.com/?r6ufnnc75l1l57g

It will force NTSC on PAL games and will also display 720p 1080i. Yes, it will work with HDLoader. There are several options. Video mode will only reset if system is turn off or reset. Easy to use. I haven't tried 720p but pal2ntsc works great

All the info you need is at the beginning of this thread!
http://psx-scene.com/forums/f19/gs-mode ... ack-61808/
Including the link to download the latest release 0.36.
The youtube video you linked demonstrates an older version which has a very complicated User Interphase.
0.36 looks like this and is very easy and quick to operate!:

I just found out that
Motorstorm NTSC-U & PAL can be forced to true 480p with GSM 0.36!!!!
It looks great in 480p. It really makes a huge difference.
Anyway, I also found out that in the pal version the horzontal resolution was decreased.
But you will not want to force this PAL version to 480p, because the pal version is 50hz optimized. Heck, perhaps 576p will work, didn´t even try. Why bother.
Anyway, Motorstorm was released in 2009 and it looks pretty swell for a ps2 game.

Xploder has made a world of difference for me by forcing MGS3:S into 480p. Thanks. Better picture, motion, and much less control lag on my old Sony Bravia LCD. Now if I can just enable widescreen support...

Well, did you try it?
If it doesn´t work, you might want to try to patch your iso with the widescreen change, then you can use xploder to force it to 480p. It should work in theory.
I recommend ps2rd for the enabling widescreen code in real-time, but it is unclear at the moment how you can hex-edit/patch the iso.

I saw the thread but I could never get codebreaker to work. Also I have a legit copy of MGS3S. I cant run dual layers burns with esr, right? Pretty sure I've tried that before.

Whatever this ps2rd thing is, I have no idea what to do. This scene is always such a damn mess.
