Conversely I could just call for another vote too, since I am unable to play the winner of my previous.

Hmm, notion granted. Considering your PC is out of commission, it would make sense to reconstitute a new candidate list consisting of just SNES RPGs.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

I need to not play Fire Emblem for quite a while. I have a number of options that I'm considering, in order to achieve this. I'm curious what others feel the right choice is between:

Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes - Genesis (I'm about at the midway point of this)
Surging Aura - Genesis
Megami Tensei II - SNES
Dark Half - SNES
Red Aremer II (Gargoyle's Quest II) - NES
Terra Phantasica - Saturn
Sakura Taisen - Saturn
Langrisser - Saturn
Emerald Dragon - PCE CD
Jaseiken Necromancer - PCE

Nice list.

I'm gonna be selfish and say Terra Phantastica as it's the only one I haven't played and am interested in hearing about it.

The one I'm most familiar with is Gargoyle's Quest II, so I'll recommend that.

I've played a few of these on the SD2SNES, and I've heard of others. I can't believe there isn't an English patch for Surging Aura, there's a French and Russian translation out there!

The only one I've beaten out of your list. So, I recommend it by default. I enjoyed it though, and I thought it was a decent sequel to my all time favorite Game Boy game.

I recommend playing the Game Boy version of Gargoyle's Quest II however. That being Makaimura Gaiden: The Demon Darkness, as it has two extra levels over the NES. It's available in English:

Obviously you throw that list out and do Ultraman.
