Moreover, it’s not always clear what you’re supposed to do, like in many point-and-click games. I put it down at the start of Day 3, but I still really want to push through it.

The protagonist does grow on you eventually. Mostly because of all the bickering between him and either Grace or Mosely. I had to use a guide often but I have to with like 90% of point and click games lol.

Part 2 is just as good and more straightforward.

I'm going to do my absolute best to my video review of the trilogy at Thursday. Just gotta spend the next 3 days doing tons of preliminary work. Perhaps the video can help you decide whether or not you should continue it.

Going to try to finally finish OverBlood on PS1. This is a game I had back in the day but sold to a friend after just a few months. Well, I just recently got another copy and would like to finish it after all these years. I think it's going to be a bit tough to get through, as the controls are are a bit clunky and the action sequences are few and far between. But if I can get through it in the next week or two, I'll think about trying to finish another game for this month's TR.

Strider = Genesis

River City Ransom = NES

I think I should be able to beat River City Ransom once I know what to do and what to buy as well. For Strider, we shall see. I like that game, but it can also be very frustrating.

I've crossed a lot of games off of my "not beaten" list over the past couple years, and I'm gonna keep going on my 3D Sonic train that I started with Sonic Adventure last month. I picked up Sonic Heroes for Gamecube last week, and I'm gonna start playing that later this week. I could only beat half of the story routes as a kid, but now I'm gonna do all of 'em, gosh darn it~

And then, if I can find a copy at an affordable price, I'm gonna get a copy of Shadow the Hedgehog and do that game as well. That was another game I played only a bit of as a kid but never totally beat.

Then if I get through those, maybe I'll try again to get through Sonic 2, the one of the Genesis Sonic games I got closest to beating as a kid

I've got one big game I want to finish off this month, but a good few others I could consider too.

The one game I really want to finish is Final Fantasy VI for Super Nintendo. I'm in the second half of the game, at the point where you re-recruit your party, and I have 7 team members - so probably closing in on 2/3rds through I'd guess.

Other candidates for after that:

Wing Commander III (3DO) - I made a strong attempt to get through this for Together Retro 2019, but it just got way too hard for me quite early on.

Crystal Warriors (GG) - Started this for SRPG Together Retro earlier in the year. Got about 1/4 of the way through and stopped, despite it being short.

Shinobi (SMS) - Another failed Summer Challenge game that got too tough for me

Rayman (Saturn) - Played this for Together Retro years and years and years ago. Would like to give it another go.

A Shadow's Tale (Wii) - Played through hald of this last year when I got it and just stopped for no good reason.

FWIW, there is a level select code. Copy and pasted from Game FAQs...

At the title screen, select Options. Highlight Sound Test then play the following music and sounds: 19, 65, 09 and 17. You will hear a ring-collecting sound for correct code entry. Then press START to return to the title screen. Highlight 1-Player, hold the A Button and press START. You are directed to Level Select Screen. Choose a level then press START to begin.

Don't get me started, a level select code is not a replacement for a password or save system (I even made a thread about it here) but it's better than nothing if you've yet to beat the game.

That boss was a road block for me when I first owned the game. You have to hit him from the top. You can sort of hit him from the sides, but try and stick to only hitting him from the top. Spin-dash up a wall, then when you're at the optimal height jump off the wall to land a hit on top of him.

Thank you so much. Will try it out next week. I do like to play the levels again because I gotta find some of those secret areas, but it was being too repetitive, especially in that chemical level.

It's my first foray into Sega so I guess it makes sense that I have trouble with it, even with something like Sonic.

Starting the month off with The Guardian Legend. After that, probably just wing it.

The Guardian Legend is awesome. If you get stuck, let us know. It was on my “not beaten” list for years, but when I finally pushed through it, I loved it.

...an opportunity to attack the backlog is always very cool and I can think of a few games I may be able to get through in November.

Mega Man 8 - I last played a friend's copy of this in college and didn't get to far. I also regret picking up Resident Evil instead of this for my Saturn. So I'll give this one a go.

Knights of the Old Republic - I had a blast with this Bioware RPG back in the day. I even made it to the end of the game but couldn't finish b/c my build was wrong, well time to fix that mistake

Ninja Gaiden Black - Anither game I came so close to wrapping up but just fell apart at the end and got busy with either life/work or something else. Well this one should be easy to wrap up.

Super Mario World - SMW is still one of the best Mario games of all time imo. I remember getting close to wrapping up the GBA version but if course something came up, this one should be especially fun to get through.
