What would you put in a videogame museum?

Post by Erik_Twice »

What would you show in a exposition about videogames or games as a whole? What do you think it's not a good idea to show? What kind of problems do you think they can face?

I think that, for example, a panel about the evolution of shooters would be very interesting. Starting with Tennis for two or Breakout you can show every little step and with a picture/video and a brief explanation it should be easy to follow. Being simple games it would be easy to understand what each game brought to the table and how the genre evolved.

Being a game exposition means games must be playable. However a balance must be striken between games and static information as you can't fill everything with games.

So, what do you think? =D

I'd definitely like to see a video game museum get rare or obscure video games and consoles that can be put on display for the public. There's so much stuff I'm never going to see in real life, stuff that's going to be locked away in a collectors basement forever :(

I love things like this. For instance, here's a visual example of the sort of video game evolution you mention:
