Bah! I read your title and thought it was confirmed for american release. Too bad...we can wait and hope.

Although, I'm getting closer to considering a JP 360 because of Cave's Ketsui and DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou. :(

I hate that the 360 is region locked and there is no region free version of Raiden Fighters Aces. So now Raiden IV will elude me as well. Those guys at UFO who ported Raiden III need to get their hands on these two Raiden games and get them North American releases. The Raiden series is one of my favorite shooter series.

What really annoys me is that Raiden, along with the Ketsui & DDP DOJ ports, would be perfect for XBLA - yet, when the publisher of Ketsui & DDP submitted both games for XBLA aproval, Microsoft said they didn't want any more direct arcade ports on XBLA, which makes next to no sense when you look at the trash they release each week, they might be original games, but the majority are pure shit.

Exactly. And it's not just one or two people that think this...EVERYONE wants to see at least a mix of original games and arcade ports, if not just the occasional original game (Assault Heroes!).

Over at the big N, the same thing is happening. The Virtual Console has been getting less and less releases, especially now that original games are being released.

I suppose it must be some commercial reason, but they must be stopped!

I would love nothing more than for a good SHMUP compilation to come to retail on the 360. I'm all about the XBLA releases, but would gladly pay $40 for a Raiden Fighters Aces/Radien IV bundle.

SHMUPs make really good achievement games IMO, so it would cool to work towards the full 1000 on RF.

Agreed. It's why I bought Ikaruga on day one. I haven't even played all that much (my skills are not *quite* up to snuff) but I just really wanted to support such a release show MS that people give a shit about them.

Same here, that's why I bought Triggerheart. I feel guilty I haven't got Ikaruga yet, but I still play my GCN version all the time.

Shame on you! Support the shooters!! :D

It's really an excellent port...but I imagine GameCube players might miss the part-level practice mode from their version. But you will definitely notice the upgrade in gfx and audio...it might even look better than the DC in VGA!

It is sadly true, the XBLA and VC/WiiWare downloads are giving way to the new games and ignoring the fact that downloading classics retro titles is actually a bigger draw for some of us than having new games of that style. While I enjoy the card games, and some of the newer indie titles on XBLA, the majority of the games I have downloaded have been the classic retro arcade titles with online play. Now, I am lucky to see one retro title every other month. The Wii downloads lately seem to favor the newer games with barely a VC download in sight these days. This is an extra powerful slap in the face when you consider the European VC recently got a slew of Turbographx-16/Turbo Duo import SHMUPS on their VC download roster along with NES classics such as MegaMan and MegaMan 2. The Japanese have Castlevania Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, Super Mario RPG and others that we have yet to see hide or tail of. I am feeling truly disinterested with these services as of late, when I used to be filled with anticipation each Monday (new VC releases) and Wednesday (new XBLA releases) each week, but now I check probably once a month to see if anything worthwhile has turned up.
