Any SNES Shmup Fans Want to Help Write Guide?

by racketboy Thu Aug 02, 2018 2:14 pm

Good news: Marurun and I actually have a good amount of an early draft done on a lot of the heavy hitters in the SNES shooter library.
We could just use another SNES shmup fan or two to help
* Proof what we already have
* Write some about the games we haven't covered
* Possibly expand some of our existing entries

Here's the games we have done at least pretty well so far:
Space MegaForce / Super Aleste
Axelay
UN Squadron / Area 88
Super E.D.F.: Earth Defense Force (EDF)
Super R-Type

So if you know a decent amount about any of the others and/or are willing to spend some time with them to learn them more, you would be a prime candidate to help.

Let me know what you think!

I wouldn't mind helping out. I've spent a fair amount of time with a few shooters not yet mentioned, including:

Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie
Biometal
Gradius III
R-Type III
The Parodius series

I'm also willing to spend time with pretty much any shooter, if one needs more attention.

Do you still need help ? You guys mentioned some good titles . How do you feel about including pocky and Rocky ? I played a lot aerofighters, and also have stg strike gunners, thunder spirits, raiden, and Darius . Some of these are just ok but they would be worth it especially as a comparison to the their Genesis versions .

I'd be willing to contribute as well. I've already written about BlaZeon and Imperium for HardcoreGaming101 some years back. I can put some info on those in your article and research some other obscure shmups while the others get the more popular titles.

Checking back in on this.

Here's the ones we already have full write-ups for:
Space MegaForce / Super Aleste
Axelay
UN Squadron / Area 88
Super E.D.F.: Earth Defense Force (EDF)
Super R-Type
Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie
Darius Twin
Darius Force / Super Nova
Imperium
Firepower 2000 / Super SWIV
Aero Fighters/Sonic Wings
BioMetal
Thunder Spirits
Pop'n TwinBee
Phalanx
Cotton 100%
Raiden Trad

If you would like to contribute by writing about any others in the lengthly lineup, please let me know.
I have some rough notes about a lot of others, but could use help putting together full write-ups.

Thanks!
