III and IV did too iirc.

I'm not too familiar with this game, less so than other shmups, but I do recall it having some sort of online-only stuff. Not sure if co-op was there, and this just now allows offline co-op? I see mention of a "Cheer" system, and I have no idea what that means.

IV is pretty great. Raiden Triad on Genesis is good with the best game box ever.
Have you tried Caldrius Blaze? Awesome game. Only downside is the characters stripping not nude but skimpy.

Anyway it is getting physical.

I want to say that I passed on the original release because it had a game-breaking bug early on in it that required a day one patch.

I like my games to be playable right out of the box in case the machine isn't supported 20 years from now, so that may be a possibility on this game with an updated release.

Raiden and Super Raiden on the PC Engine were the best 16-bit home ports.
Genesis Raiden Trad has some redeeming qualities that bring it very close to the PCE version.
Avoid the SFC version at all costs.

I've always played 1&2 on the Raiden Project for PS1.
Never spent a great deal of time with 3, but a good bit on 4. Most of my time is with the Fighters series.
