Shmup of the Month Club 2013 (Giga Wing)
Re: Shmup of the Month Club 2013 (Homura)
Hmm, as much as I like the game's style and substance, I'm just not getting anywhere with it! Hardly progressing at all...

There are certain points, especially after the 2nd level, where you can get a really nice rhythm going. Build up your multiplier, then focus on reflecting the most bullets you can. One of the bosses (3rd stage I think) sends waves of bullets right on time with your sword re-charge if you can time it. I'm hoping to have some more time to play this toward the end of the month.
Also my offer still stands to help anyone with a PS2 join in if they would like.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Unless you can actually clear the game and are going for superplays and/or world records, then I don't think you should be concentrating on % bonuses right now. The large part of your score will be getting a high combo (50+) as early as possible in a stage and keeping it high for the rest of the level. Then using your special attack to reflect bullets for extra score bonuses. This will make up the vast majority of your score and the end of stage bonus is relatively small in comparison.

There are actually only 4 stages in the entire game! Well, there's a 5th stage too, but that's taken up solely by the TLB...

Apparently I'm missing something here. I'm only hitting 50 mil by stage 2, and I see the average is like 200+

Get a "lightning attack" in when there are a bunch of little enemies on the screen, then try to reflect large amounts of bullets or just roll through shooting while your mulitplier is still high.

All those votes and only four scores

If it was the game from Dooyong that won I think it would have been better, because that would at least run in MAME, and I would have played it
Remember too we have a lot of people here who vote and just not play.
I dunno how popular RIV is gonna be, but it seems everyone's got a 360. Keep in mind we didn't have a lot of players last September for X-Multiply and last October for..... ExedExes
