I'm not gonna lie, dude. That title makes me think it's a game about cunnilingus.

I think that may have been the intent.

Do you guys play all "routes" in VNs? Or do you find that redundant/annoying and just play one or two? On the fence about how to approach Muv Luv. I am enjoying the game though.

I haven't really played things in the purely visual novel genre. About the closest thing I've played would be the Kino no Tabi games on the PS2. They're almost more like sound novels, really, but they have some adventure sections with multiple endings. Even though I love the novels, I doubt I'll every actually bother with all the different endings for those sections, though.

I've also played the first four Sakura Taisen games, and I probably wouldn't bother to play through them again to get other endings there, either.

In my shame of shames, I have played through Kekkon - Marriage, on the Saturn (it's supposedly a Westone game; I swear that's the only reason I played it. >_>) It was kind of crap, so I wed one girl, and was done with it.

Whether you consider any of those VNs, or whether I ever play an honest to goodness VN, I think the answer for me would be, "no." I'd probably play through the other character stories in something like Seiken Densetsu 3 way before I ever did multiple paths through a VN.

Okay, play this or no? It just hit Steam.

It's from 2003 (gimme dem old VNs) and looks really interesting. On the other hand, it appears to be rather gross and porny. Hmmm....

My question for you: why is it that when I search for the FPS tag on Steam, I often find Visual Novels and anime porn games mixed into the list?

What the hell..........? You're right!

I dunno. Those games are, uh, first-person I guess. Certainly not shooters. Aren't tags chosen by users? It seems like most games perhaps have too many, with some being inaccurate and irrelevant.

I bought a physical copy of it back when it was localized in 2013 and played through it. You are...not wrong. It was fairly lauded when it came out here, but I would tend towards it being a bit overrated. The core plot is interesting enough, but it skews right towards graphic Japanese horror (synopsis on Wikipedia) with porn to help sell it, because it's a VN after all. Still, I don't think those aspects were entirely necessary for the story, and it's not exactly a little softcore stuff tacked on.

Frankly, if you haven't played it, Doki Doki Literature Club is both cheaper, at $0, and pulls off a better narrative, without resorting to tacking on porn. Or maybe Analogue: A Hate Story (I haven't played the sequel though).

If you didn't play VA-11 HALL-A then you might want to check that out. It's effectively a visual novel, done up like a PC-98 game. While it does highlight the bartending aspect, it's effectively the way the game does conversations - give people the right drink at the right time rather than pick the right dialogue option. It's on Switch now, even.
