Is the term "video"game outdate?

Quite an interesting approach, since you don't have to buy a media to play games anymore, nor do you have to see the other player next by you.

Wikipedia wrote:Video is the technology of electronically capturing, recording, processing, storing, transmitting, and reconstructing a sequence of still images representing scenes in motion.

A video game is a structured activity undertaken for enjoyment via the electronic processing of a sequence of still images representing scenes in motion. This definition is still quite valid.

really? I'd say it's the other way around. I belive the term game is outdated. Video games are not just toys anymore. They are so many things.

They are toys (super mario)

They are board games (wii sports, wii party, games for people to play together at a get together)

They are stories (syberia)

They are constructive toys (LittleBigPlanet)

They are sports (online FPS games, in the way chess and F1 racing are considered sports)

Interactive entertainment is a much better term to describe them in my opinion.

Games =/= Toys. They are quite different, in fact, if not complete opposites.

Toys have no rules attached to them. Games are all about rules. You can use a toy in a game, and you can use a game-piece like a toy, but they are still completely different things.

The term video game should no longer be considered as two words put together, it should be considered as it's own seperate term.

I think its outdated, I think it was wrong up from the start
Electronic games sounds much more fitting, I want to say digital games but some early games might be analogue I am not sure.
