Ratchet & Clank (PS2)
Ico (PS2)
Brain Lord (SNES)
Pilotwings 64 (N64)

Just want to share my July pick-ups! I found some games that I've been interested in for quite a while.

Lotus II (GEN) - 2D sprite scaling racer, which was originally developed for the Amiga PC but ported to the Genesis. After playing and finishing OutRun so many times throughout the years, I figured I'd check out another game with a similar style. This game isn't on the same level as OutRun and is a bit more difficult, but it does have a two player option. One issue with this game is the sound though. If you have music turned on, which is a necessity in a racer, IMO, you don't hear any sound effects.

Light Crusader (GEN) - One of my goals for collecting is to get a few other games by Treasure, and this one was high on my list for a few reasons. It's an action RPG on the Genesis, which there aren't too many of. And it's cool to see Treasure stray from their usual action oriented games on the console. I've played this a bit through emulation years ago, so it's cool to have finally tracked it down.

Dynamite Headdy (GEN) - Another Treasure developed game I was on the hunt for. This game is super colorful and has a very weird and unique look, feel, and style to it. It also has some visual elements and mechanics that remind me of Treasure's earlier Genesis release, Gunstar Heroes. I have to admit, I find this game pretty tough, and have only been able to reach Scene 4-1 so far. Hopefully with some more time into the game I can continue to get better at it.

Ratchet & Clank (PS2) - I totally missed out on this series when it was originally released, so figured I'd start with the first game to see what it's all about and to continue with my effort to play some PS2 essentials. I listed it as one of the games I'd like to complete for the Summer Games Challenge, so I'm hoping to play through it in August or September!

Ico (PS2) - After really enjoying my time with Shadow of the Colossus, I wanted to see what the development team's first offering was like, as I've only heard good things about this game. I have a feeling it'll be something I'll enjoy as well. Thanks to o.pwuaioc for the smooth transaction on this one.

Brain Lord (SNES) - After finishing a few other Enix games on the SNES including ActRaiser and Soul Blazer, which are both games I really enjoyed, I figured I'd also give Brain Lord a chance. I'm a big fan of the genre, so I'm looking forward to checking this one out.

Pilotwings 64 (N64) - This is a game I played a bit of at friend's places around the time the N64 was originally released. I'm sometimes in the mood for a game that's pretty laidback, and I feel like this could fit the bill. Also, it's cool to have another N64 game that was available when the console launched. Also, thanks again to o.pwuaioc for the smooth transaction for this cart.

Great pick-ups!

SNES Enix is a fascinating rabbit hole to go down, as they were actually more of a publisher than developer. The other games you mentioned (ActRaiser and Soul Blazer) are Quintet titles, but Brain Lord was developed by an outfit called "Produce" and is loosely related to an old Bone favorite:

This was the haul from my Local Retro Gaming Convention. Now that I have hit that along with all of my local Retro Game Stores, I am done with the bulk buying. I will buy one sporadically, but I have a good cushion that I don't need to buy 8 at a time.

Tengen Tetris (NES) - This has been my white whale for quite a while, so to see a near perfect cart was an easy decision. I am so happy to finally own this cartridge as I am a HUGE Tetris fan and this is kind of a piece of history.

Bangai-O (SDC) - I am getting low on DreamCast games and this is a big one off my list. I almost bought it from a local store a few months ago, but somebody got there first. This makes up for that.

Dragon's Crown (PS3) - I absolutely love Vanillaware, so this was an easy decision.

The Last Story (Wii) - I even got the Limited Edition with the Artbook. Very nice version and the copy was even sealed.

You guys are killing it with the pick ups! I’m really enjoying this thread.

It’s so cute that the box for The 7th Saga warns that the game may cause “complete ENJOYMENT.” “Enjoyment” is not the word that comes to mind when I think about The 7th Saga, and I think Bone is likely the only person on earth who actually enjoys that game!

Well, they did include "Confusion" which is the typical response.

Thanks, Bone! I love Quintet stuff on the SNES! Their games have been some of my favorites on the console. I'd like to try and track down their other offerings on the system. Does anyone have any recommendations on later Quintet titles, after the SNES? Just curious if any of their releases that came out after the 16-bit generation are worth checking out.

I didn't realize Brain Lord was loosely associated with 7th Saga. That's pretty interesting, I've heard mixed things about 7th Saga but maybe I'll try it through emulator sometime.

Nice pick-ups, Markies! Dragon's Crown and Bangai-O are also on my to get list. Dragon's Crown seems like a fun couch co-op play through. I think my partner and I would have a good time with it.

Also, that's cool you found Tengen Tetris! I think that's a hard to find game, IIRC. Doesn't that version include two players head-to-head?
