What exactly IS that "original hardware feeling" to you?

LOL, drunk posting is always funny when you read it back to yourself once you're sober. It's like someone else wrote it.

Games that you have liked and have great memories with, you will always like. You just wont always be in the mood for them. The DKC trilogy are 3 of my all time favorite games, but I'm not always in the mood for them.

Triggered! Have you all heard of Ulao and his 4-play controller solution for your emulator boxes and mister boxes? How about the Chronus Max? Once you mod your newest Microsoft console to play all the games, you gotta interface your OG NES controllers to get the full effect. If you're wire-free because you already blurtoothed your Atari controllers, then you're already OK in my book.

Not into sharp pixels I hated that when I first saw it.
I prefer smooth 2D same as on a CRT with Composite.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people feel the same way as throughout the years there have been bilinear of CRT filters added to emulators to make games look like how you remembered them.

One thing that's great about CRTs is that you play retro games at their native resolution.

That aside even if you have the space for a CRT TV these days they are getting more difficult to find a good CRT.

On top of that most people rather play classic games on their their modern TV.
Many solutions for this these days such upscalers, upscaler cables in one cables, modified original consoles, FPGA consoles and even emulation based consoles.

Software emulation =/= hardware emulation.

Yes and no. FPGA replication and software emulation are actually quite a lot a like in many ways, despite being different in many others. And yet, even FPGA replication is not the same as original hardware.

Lots of options. Almost none are the true "original hardware feeling." But that's okay. I've (mostly) chosen convenience and "QoL" improvements over "true" retro gaming. If the MiSTer ever gets Retro Achievements I'll probably start using that more. :)

FPGA is very close but I still find myself nitpicking on things like the MiSTer outputs RGB Scart and not composite but I want to play my games via composite on a CRT :|
