I just discovered vgmaps.com , amazement continues...

This made me look it up on YouTube, looks like someone already did the work in a series called Doom Mod Madness. I honestly I could have easily been sold as this being a new game to be released, very polished. I would say the only give away is the hand motion as you move back and forth.

I don't know how hard modding is but I can't imagine someone putting so much hard work into something so trivial that is supposed to be some sort of a joke or a meme then giving it away for free. Personally I get exhausted writing a good text post or article.

I would like to think those are made by game developers as a side fun project or by university students with lots of time and going to use it as their graduation project and learning to program along the way.

Anyone has thoughts on the playdate console? Seems like preorders are happening next month. It actually looks quite cool

Is this confirmed? I googled around and found nothing related to this. My assumption is that the games stay in a sort of cloud-like system.

I kind of hate this. It's so painfully West Coast and twee.

And no backlight? "Surprise" indie games? No thanks.

Haven't seen anything to that effect either. Their longer video says the Season 1 stuff is included in the purchase price and is "yours to keep". That said, official distribution doesn't seem to be set in stone past that initial round. The dev FAQ indicates that it'll be an open platform for side-loading, and that devs can sell their games for users to put on it that way, but doesn't really say what "season 2" or whatnot would entail.

Pretty much. A far-less-capable Ouya that's significantly more expensive.

Ouya was far more capable than this garbage.
