PS3, PSP, PS Vita: The (digital) End is Nigh!

Post by Nemoide »

According to a new report, the digital stores for PS3, PSP, and Vita are going to be discontinued in the coming months.

This could end up being not 100% true, but the fact that they took those games off the web-based store means the writing is on the wall and the days are numbered for those platforms' digital storefronts.

So what games are you planning on getting before they're gone? What do you recommend? Any important DLC that you want to make sure you snag before it's unavailable?

Good to know as the Vita is my most current piece of Sony hardware.

I don't think I'm gonna get anything else though. Honestly, I never found much use for PSN or the Microsoft Store. There's so much overlap between all these storefronts and I've always been content with Steam, GOG, and the eShop.

As far as recommendations go...... RPG fans should grab Adventures of Mana and Brandish: The Dark Revenant before they disappear.

There's some interesting PS1 Classics I want to pick up before they go and the only non-pirating option is spending hundreds on physical discs.

I'll probably look at picking up a few cheaper PSP games on Vita if I can too, as it is a far nicer way to play them.

I've always been somewhat interested in the Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC, especially since it provides the "true" ending. I guess I should get on that. I don't think it costs much these days.

Thanks for the heads up. I have about $60 worth of PSN games on my want list, and I’ll pick those up ASAP. (PSN GaiaSeed is a lot cheaper than an import copy...)

So every ps3 game I have that I haven't popped in yet, I better do now to have the updates and bug fixes? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question, my experience with digital stores and dlc is almost zero.

It wouldn't be a terrible idea but we don't really know yet as this is still just a rumor. It is definitely going to happen eventually. They could be just shutting down the store and not the download servers.

This has been my concern for a while!

I still have a bunch of PS3 games that I never played yet, and have not installed updates for if any exist. Some of which are still sealed, so I don't really want to open them just to get updates.
