I don't think that sounds like a bad idea. actually. The iCade started as an April Fools' joke, and that thing is amazing. I loved mine so much I took a picture of me hugging mine and set it as my Facebook avatar.

The only way I can see this thing being worth one hundo is if the hardware is a perfect recreation of the original hardware.

Man, I still actually want this.

I'm not sure it's dead yet anyway, they only announced it last summer.

I wanted that Retron X86 if it delivered on enough of their promises about it. That would have been seriously bad ass having a TV dos box basically with whatever front end they had decided to do so you could commandline or click away and fire up all those late 80s and 90s gems that are a pain to fire up now unless you can figure it out or buy an old PC which is a space waster.

You mean being able to play Commander Keen with a controller!?

Well yeah I guess that would be one of many benefits. I do miss those early 90s games from iD, Epic/Epic Games, Apogee, and a few others. Back then it was just the old gravis game pad and quickshot joystick and stuff from them, or the Wing Commander titles from Origin, Star Control 1 and 2, whatever else. Epic had that bitchin line up of pinball games (silverball, epic pinball etc) and also Solar Winds. They were all keyboard and joystick, occasionally old ps/2 mouse based stuff. It would be nice just to have a modern X86 box they promised you could use an old style pad and keyboard but with usb connections to just get right to it without having to go through hoops.
