Here's my suggestions. I'm thinking about games/series that would be podcast interview friendly, so there aren't many Japanese-developed games...

The Strike series (Desert Strike, Jungle Strike, Nuclear Strike, etc.)
Metal Slug series
Golden Axe
Outrun/Virtua Racing double feature
Gauntlet
X-Com: UFO Defense
Road Blasters
NBA Jam

I'm cool with you on all of them, except X-Com as it seems like it's only on PC/Amiga/PS and Road Blasters since you also mentioned Outrun, which has way more ports.

Since X-Com is on three "systems" it is already more accessible than some of our other TR features (e.g. the Punch-Out games). Plus the PS1 port can be played on PS2/3. I think we need to do a PC game, and this will run on virtually any PC. It's $5 on Steam. According to Wikipedia, "X-COM: UFO Defense was named the #1 PC game of all time by IGN in 2000, 2007 and 2009 and the #2 best video game since 1992 by Pelit in 2007." I considered Starcraft or Doom or something, but there's a better chance fewer people have played this game...

Roadblasters is just a personal fave, so no big deal if we skip it.

I hear what yr saying. just suggesting that maybe we find a PC game that has also had some console ports as well, just to make its availability widespread. Just a suggestion.

Maybe Wolfenstein 3D or Duke Nukem instead of Doom? Maybe Sim City or The Sims? Just brainstorming.

I am ok with a PC only game as long as it can be ran on damn near anything (this includes linux via wine). So it would have to be pre 2000. Personally I want to do Total Annihilation but I dont know how many of yall would want to play an RTS from 98.

well obviously it's up to mods & majority. But PC games aren't my thing, which is why I was hoping at least for a PC game that may have been ported to consoles as well.

Understandable. And it does come down to a majority view, unless there isnt enough interest then the handful of people who have suggested things will get them for the calender. I am tempted to just go down the list. Ofcourse if dsheinem or Racket have something come up, like an interview or piece on a programmer, we will swap the game out. But that is an outside prospect.

how about Ecco The Dolphin one month? I think that's pretty different than any game we've done.

And I feel like someone else mentioned Harvest Moon a while back. And Ogre Tactics (or whatever it's called)?

Ive just started to add them all to the list:
February - Run and Gun - Contra
March - JRPG - Phantasy Star
April - Puzzle - Qwak
May - Tactical - Xcom UFO Defense
June - Racing - Outrun
July - Platformer - Ecco the Dolphin
August - Sports - NBA JAM
September - Isometric Shooter - Jungle Strike
October -
November -
December -

Now if something like the new NBA Jam is announced for an October release, we will shift things around.

Tactics Ogre was vetoed since it is too expensive. It still fetches $30-40 loose and $150+ in good condition (and after all the bitching from Snatcher we wont be doing that again). I guess we could do the GBA one, if we really wanted to.
