Do you find the old console games slow?
Do you find the old console games slow?
When I was younger I absolutely loved playing on my gameboy with focus on all Pokémon games. However, when years later it became possible to play them on my computer I actually noticed I really enjoyed the possibility to speed up some parts of the gameplay. Since then, any attempts to go back to console gaming were unsuccessful simply because I found them tremendously slow.

With regard to JRPGs, yes. I find some of those grind-y old titles almost unplayable without the ability to turn up the game’s speed. (There’s no way I would have made it through Legend of the Ghost Lion on a cart.)
Old-fashioned action games are typically fast enough or too fast as-is. I took a shot at Ninja Gaiden (SMS) the other day, and it was DEFINITELY fast enough for me!

No. Really depends what "type" of game you are playing (or want to play). There are games that are programmed to be slow pace, mainly RPG's (as your example). There are old games that starts slow, then speed up later on (ex. Tetris, Dr. Mario, etc). Then there are old games that are paced just right (Castlevania, Super Mario Bros, Mega Man, etc).

Better than 120 hours of press A.

I thought most of you liked Detective Pikachu!
(I’m about to finish it, and my nickname for it is “Press A to Solve a Mystery”.)
Re: Do you find the old console games slow?
Yeah, you're right with the fact that it depends on the game type, I guess I was just addressing the RPG's with my post. I just can't make it through the grindey parts of those old games anymore
Still, games like Tetris I find unchangeably enjoyable no matter what part of the game it is

Castlevania The Adventure is dreadfully slow. Older JRPGs can be really slow during battles. I don't know if I could make it through Final Fantasy on the NES. But these are exceptions, I think. Super Mario World isn't slow. Sonic isn't slow.

And yet it's still faster than booting up a PS1.

Unless it is an awesome vertical shooter with tons of replayability.
