Hello folks, and welcome to November's Together Retro: Time Travelers Never Die.

Simply put, we're going to play games that focus on time travel. It doesn't matter if it's just part of the story or a usable game play mechanic, as long as altering time in some fashion is an element of the game.

We'll be using the 10 year requirement for this, just because it's convenient. So please stick to games that came out in 2008 or earlier.

Below is a short list of games from discussion in the voting thread that you might consider, but this is a broad theme by design and there are a lot of options out there, so poke around and see if you can find something new. If you're unsure about a game, feel free to ask.

Side note, if you recognize the thievery reference made in the theme's title (without googling you damn cheater) then you have good taste.

I read recently that the point and click horror game Prisoner of Ice contains some kind of time travel element, so I plan to give it a shot to see if this is true.

These are the games I plan to play, and hopefully beat, for this TR:

Future Wars: Adventures In Time (DOS) - First released in France in 1989.
Professor Layton and the Unwound Future (DS) - First released in Japan in 2008.
Shadow of Destiny (PSP port) - First released in Japan in 2001.

I'm also halfway through Shadow Hearts: Covenant (2004), which I have read includes time travel as part of its plot. If that ends up being true, I'll shoehorn it into this TR as well.

I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else plays.

Time Soldiers (1987). Is this the best, classic SNK overhead shooter? Only time will tell...

I assume we're just talking about the shoddily-programmed NES port by Micronics.

I have no exact plans right now for what I'll play, but I'll certainly try to slip something in. I've done a poor job of participating in a few months of retro gaming themes as of late.

Oh, and Timesplitters, folks. I recommend Future Perfect.

Also, if we use the ten-year requirement, it knocks out Radiant Historia and Ghost Trick. (Those are great games, though!)

I sure hope someone decides to play Suikoden. For spoiler purposes, I won't mention how exactly it fits the theme, but specifically, I mean the first game.

As for the 10 year rule itself, I used it because it's something that's become kind of accepted. We can keep or it can it, I'm not particularly worried about it. I'll leave it be for now unless people say otherwise.

I hope to get to play some Lost Vikings this month.

I have plans to play it later this month.

Interesting. This has been on my 'to-play' list, so if I get time I'll try to at least start on this one this month.
