Re: Together Retro: Licensed to Thrill (Licensed 2D Platform
I tried playing the Master System port of The Terminator but had to quit. One life, no continues and almost constantly spawing enemies make it a pretty unbearable experience.
I was a bit suspicious as this was a white label SMS game which usually denotes a lack of quality but I was more staggered to learn that this game is highly rated among SMS fans. That said so is dreck like Psycho Fox and California Games so I suspect nostalgia is the father of thought here.

If you want a good licensed SMS title to try, give Alien 3 a go. That one is pretty good.
I've not played Terminator, but I agree with you on California Games, that one sucks.
Psycho Fox is ok, but not nearly as good as it's reputation would suggest.

I just played through DuckTales 2. Had to use an emulator, sadly, as I was killing time during an exam period after my kids finished testing, but still! Fantastic little game. This is actually my first time playing it, and it was an absolute blast to play. It improved on the original in every way. My review will be going up in the Games Beaten 2018 thread probably Wednesday; I only post one review per day, and I posted one this morning already and have one queued up for tomorrow.

Interestingly enough, Ducktales 2 and Chip and Dale 2 were both outsourced projects not developed by Capcom.

Just blew through TaleSpin! This is probably my favorite of the three that I've played so far. Definitely more of a genre fit for me than the two DuckTales.
