Totally forgot about this one. Looks like the arcade version is on Tecmo Classic Arcade, so maybe I'll give it a spin.

I love this game, but never completed it. It gets so hard! I should give it another go.

Arino was tortured by this game on an episode of Game Center CX, but he persevered and finally toppled the mighty Solomon's Key. Here is the video:

My month has finally arrived! Thank you for your support in getting it on here this year. You're going to love it!

The arcade version is on Tecmo Classic Arcade (Xbox) or easily emulated through MAME.

The NES version is also had for cheap! Keep in mind the NES version isn't a straight port, the rooms are different! So you might want to do both for the full experience. Check my article on the main page for all the ports.

I had no idea that Game Center CX covered this game; but if you believe the NES box it said that over a million copies were sold in Japan so it must have been popular there, thanks for the link.

I tried to play the DOS port. Runs super fast in DOSBox. There's probably a fix for that.

Hmmmm....I may give this a go too. Which is the definitive version of the game, the arcade version or NES version?

I'm partial to the NES version myself, but I'll do both.

As for the DOS version, a cycle change might slow it down in DOSBox?

Love this game but I've also never been able to beat it on NES. I've got the arcade version on a multicart in a KI cab too. I plan to fiddle with the arcade version but the NES version has sentimental value. I'll try and take that one down but realistically I won't have the time to commit. Difficulty ramps hard quick.
