Lacking enemy variety holds this one back.

A great arcade port and the type of game the system needed more of in the West.

Not a bad idea for a game but the execution is lacking.

One of the best action RPGs on the SNES.

How much did you tweak the battlefield options for the AI? Granted, they still have limitations, but things get better if you play with that throughout the game.

The game breaking feature isn't a big deal imo, because one can just choose not to do it to ramp up difficulty (though you're right it's never too difficult).

To me, the only real problem with the game is that the last 15% or so feels way too rushed, as if they ran out of story and you're just hopping from dungeon to dungeon. Up until that point, though, the game is top notch. Top 10 favorite SNES game for me.

I played around with the battle AI a bit when I first started and eventually found a medium that I liked. Even with that it was never as ideal as I would have liked. But perhaps I expected too much from the game on that front.

A solid action RPG that could have been more with a few minor tweaks.

Decent but Hydro Thunder is a far better choice.
