Been meaning to post this for awhile, so here is my gameroom setup. Pics are not the best, but the camera on my phone is also not the best

Initially I just had random shelves found at Goodwill, etc. but I decided to make my own shelving for the games, and try and keep it to just the two walls. It has helped so far with the "culling" of the collection.



Here is the TV setup in the room (ignore the vacuum ). Big Flatscreen CRT, can't remember exact size, but it is plenty big. Nice comfy chair too. Systems hooked up via component, or s-video / composite *whichever was the best for the system: Sega Genesis (32x CD), Master System, N64, SNES, NES, Wii (Gamecube), Dreamcast, PS2 (PS1), Saturn, OG Xbox.


Other corner of the room, My Desk. I know it is blocking the door, and it was supposed to be in the middle of the window, but I had to move it over due to the size of the comfy chair. Once I replace that with a smaller one I will be moving the desk.



PC setup - something I built with AMD, it is actually built into the desk and I wired a mushroom button (I call it a launch the nukes button) for the on / off switch. 3 monitors, 2 4:3 and 1 16:9 (I think) the big monitor is actually the Sony 3d monitor I bought somewhat recently for fairly cheap. It does 3d , and also has the component hook up for PSP that allows fullscreen stretched which is a nice bonus.




I also have an HDMI run here from the modern consoles closet so I can play PS3, PS$, 360, and Wii U games on here and still have the other two monitors for PC based things (netflix, etc.) For a computer monitor it is OK, but with all the other stuff I use it for I like it overall.

I dig the set up. I've contemplated making custom shelves in the past, they are nice. Also very interesting PC set up!

Thanks. Yeah, the PC setup is fun, and it is over the top on what is hooked up to the monitors, but I use it a whole lot. I love the setup.

Consoles in closet via drop ceiling is brilliant. Great use of space here. Awesome room.

Thanks. I honestly don't love the look of the drop ceiling but it really comes in handy when running cables!

I kept meaning to post this and kept procrastinating, but I just wanted to say I really admire your game room. I'm especially jealous of all your NES and Genesis carts, as well as the CIB N64 and SNES stuff. Those poor disposable boxes are so hard to find in nice shape that I only have around 3 CIB SNES games (Killer Instinct, Star Fox, and Flashback).

Thanks for the kind words. When I first started collecting I was really particular about collecting CIB only but that has laxed over the years. I agree that the nintendo boxes before GameCube are so easily destroyed yet so awesome.

@elkinFencer Sorry, I didn't see your post earlier. I made the shelves myself, just got the wood from home depot and then stained it. My wife is an architect so she helped with picking color stain, design etc. The shelves also helped with culling the collection as I now have to keep the game count to what can fit on the shelf which has made me get rid of a lot of sports games and dupes. Also, I don't think I mentioned it but the VHS drawers beneath the VCR and Sega Genesis is really a drawer for SNES carts..and also Warriors of the Wind!!! HAHAHAH...seriously, I do own that tape. Don't tell Miyazaki

I am about to make my own game room shelves. If your wife could post the instructions I would greatly appreciate that. Debating if I want to try to make adjustable shelves or go with something more stable but permanent, like yours. Mainly are the shelves screwed in or did you you also dado them? Not sure if that is the right term.
