opa wrote:It actually belonged to my grandparents. The cable company upgraded their boxes but the new ones are only HDMI compatible so the CRT in one of the bedrooms had to go. They were going to just sit it in the garage for the rest of eternity (or until they had a load of junk to throw out) so they were a bit surprised when I asked if I could take it.

Granted, you gotta be a tick crazy to be willing to tote one of these. But once you hook up it's all worth it.

I'm pretty psyched to try out some N64 games. I don't own any upscaling equipment so it has been a painful experience trying to play N64 on a modern tv.

That's awesome that you were able to grab it from your grandparents. Do they have any other CRTs that you think will end up in your hands down the line? Now that I think about it, I wish I had contacted some of my closer relatives to see if I could take their unwanted TVs back then. Think everyone got rid of them at this point. Lol.

Yeah, my sister is a N64 fan but didn't have a CRT anymore so she was in the same boat. I ended up buying her that RAD2X cable which was made in collaboration by RetroTink and Retro Gaming Cables. That cable works wonders, especially for those who are more casual gamers and don't need a pricey upscaler.

Have you tried any games out on the CRT yet?

That was the last CRT that anyone in my family has to my knowledge.

Right now I've got a super Famicom with an everdrive hooked to it. Playing shooters mostly at the moment.

I did briefly play a few n64 games. Games like Wave Race look amazing but then games like Shadowgate you have to play with brightness settings because its always been a washed out mess. Heck, the game even has a brightness adjust in the menu so even the devs knew it was that bad.

Parodius Da. Admittedly, I should be playing Gokujou Parodius considering I have the cart collecting dust.

Unfortunately, I do not have any photos at the moment, but I just updated my setup. This took several months to complete and today, the last piece of the puzzle came together.

So, in my house, I have two rooms where I play games.

In my family room, which is my Retro Room, I have:
- Sony 32 Inch Trinitron WEGA Television
- NES
- Sega Genesis
- SNES with a Super Gameboy 2
- DVD Player
- SNES
- N64
- A Gamecube with a GBA Player and a Hori Gamecube GBA Controller
- Sega Dreamcast

In my computer room, which is my Modern Room, I have:
- Sony 27 Inch Trinitron WEGA Television
- Sony Playstation 1
- Sony Playstation 2
- Nintendo Gamecube
- Microsoft XBOX
- Sony Playstation 3
- Nintendo Wii
- Nintendo WiiU
- Nintendo Switch

With over 1600 games on my Wishlist for all consoles, I think I am set for the rest of my life.

I just drove 6 hours to pickup my first pvm. I'm pretty stoked on it. I haven't had a crt in the house in probably 15 years.

Great idea I think I'll do this too currently I have a normal shelf but its high maintenance I'm thinking getting one like this will be ideal
