Anyone have spare Genesis 6-button pads?

by Lodestar Wed Jul 21, 2021 4:34 am

Hi, so as it turns out, I have an awful 6-button pad on the ol' Genny. I remember a while back I bought two with the blue start buttons, and they've always felt incredibly stiff, not only are the buttons hard to push in, but they don't even always register. I can push in the d-pad and it'll make a sound, but won't do anything. They're not great to play on, so I was wondering if anyone had the MK-1653 model as I'd like to use one of those to play on instead. I believe this one just has the start button in the middle.

Hope you guys can help! I'm sure they're super common, but I'd rather buy from someone here than on eBay.

Are you aware that Retro-Bit makes a fully-licensed recreation of the original pad? (Also available in blue)
I have one and it's a high-quality product, definitely worth buying if nobody here has an extra to sell you.

I have the USB version and it's great. I would definitely give that controller a try.
I'm parting with some duplicate Blu-Ray and DVD movies. Check out this thread if interested.

Third...ed?? Eh, I agree whatever the wordage.

The build quality is on par with the old hardware, but brand new.

Wow, didn't know this, thanks for the heads up!

Since you all said it's good quality, I went ahead and bought one. :)

I heard the Saturn one isn't as good as the original, but the 6-button Genesis pad is every bit as good.

I was looking at one of the scuffed ones in my controller closet when I read the thread title, and instead have one in the mail. Thanks guys!

...another vote for the Retro-Bit, I have 4 (2 USB and 2 original port) and the control pads are very solid. You can get them in black or transparent blue and a transparent red will be available soon.

Got the controller today and, yeah, it's much nicer. The d-pad is accurate, feels more like the Saturn pad.

This model 3 controller is going riiiiiight in the trash. Unless anyone wants it. I have two of them.

So these are even better than the original? Or Lodestar, do you mean they're just better than the originals you own?

The Genesis Model 3 controllers I have are awful too. Neither of them register any inputs anymore and they were lightly used. To clarify, I'm the original owner.

Majesco did a terrible job with them.

Last year I got a pair of 8bitdo 2.4g six button controllers and haven't looked back.
